Anybody have any experience with one? Looking into maybe buying one but unsure which to get. I like the reviews of the magneto speed but worried about something being strapped to the barrel during load development. Seems like I would need to shoot for accuracy and then speed. Twice as much work. Lab radar is out of my price range and I have seen some good reviews on the ced m2. Thoughts?

I got a new magnetospeed chrono last week. A very handy tool if you shoot at a local range and dont want to carry a stand and screens with you.

I have tested the magnetospeed with a 6xc with a #4 contour barrel and a 22-250 with a #5 contour barrel and seen no difference in POI with or without the magnetospeed strapped to the barrel.

The first time we used the magnetospeed we also had my buddies pact set up and fired through them both. The magnetospeed was consistently 20 to 30 fps faster than the pact.

I have the CED M2 also. Used it for many years until I bought the Labradar. The CED works just fine (if you use a laser boresighter to align it). It is one of a few optical chronos that actually work. The Magneto speed WILL change POI - or not. The unknown there is the problem. Also, if you are shooting multiple rifles as I will be today, having to strap the Magnetospeed on each rifle as others a cooling down is not appealing to me. The Labradar is great. No need to go cold or mess with aligning an optical chrono. Reads every time though you can screw that up too if you fail to arm it or don't point it at the target.

Just country, does it seem be effected by the lighting conditions like most of the others that style?

I am going to get a Magneto Speed. For load development I am going to use it to find the speed node the rifle likes. Once that is done you already know your velocity and you can un strap it and change seating depth etc for the rest of your load development and not have to worry about POI changes with the chrono strapped on.
I would like a lab radar also but I don't want to tie up that much money.

A couple more points - today after I was done at the rifle range I chronoed several pistols including a 1911 style 45 Auto. I'm thinking Magnetospeed would have issues with that gun. CED - no problem. Also the CED is not sensitive to ambient lighting conditions.

The lighting is my biggest concern. All the cheap ones I have used you have to get the lighting just right. It would be nice also if I could use it for my bow. The magneto speed would have a problem with that also.
