I use a bushing die to go from 6.5 to 6 (264 to 243) that's .021. Soooo....

Using a bushing 270 Wby to to 6.5 is .277 down to .264, only .013.

Unless there is something odd about the 270Wby bushing die that I don't know about, it should work fine.

Good question... maybe 2 steps when sizing down.
Which is why I started with .257 and went up. 1 pass and I was done. I used powdered graphite for the lube. Will post the velocities here when I get them. Focus is on 140

Since I have loads of 270 Wby brass...I just bought the 7mm Wby Redding S type bushing full length dies with .287 and .288 bushings with a 6.5 expander ball...

I am thinking we should be able to get the 140s well over 3400fps...the 150s should be fun...

More than any 6.5 standard or AI chambering. Less than a 26 Nosler or 6.5-300 Wby.

I really like where you are going with this.

I see good efficiency in that form factor. Why there was never an official 260 Weatherby/6.5-270. Hmm.

Thanks again for your help. One thing nice about this set up, is that I have a 3.7" long mag box, so I can load these long ( this chamber does have the stock .378" freebore) and not subject to the 3.4" of the Weatherby Mark V mag box...

Let's just hope that Pac-Nor is not too far behind....

Let me know how good that Pac Nor barrel is.

I've passed them up for prefits a few times, don't remember why I never went with them.

I am also curious to how the barrel will work. So far their (Pac-Nor) customer service has been fantastic. They always got back to me in a timely manner and answered all my questions. They even sent me the chamber print of the "6.5 Weatherby Mag" so I could figure out what size of type S bushings I could try.

Benchmark on the other hand, has had an order for a pre-fit barrel since last June. They never (usually) answer their emails. The only way I could find out where my barrel was in the production line, was to finally get some one on the phone...

Just last week, I found out the (Benchmark) barrel shank was just getting spun...

The nice thing about PacNor is that they have the reamer.
My turnaround was quoted at 6-8 weeks, but it came sooner.
I'm very happy with the project so far.
Hope to get some rounds in next week and will run them over the chronograph.
I had no issues fireforming the cases.
Just for grins, I fired a couple of .257 wby rounds in it. Keyholes the paper, but the cases came out fine.
I can post the load data if you're interested. Tried 7828 and retumbo.
Spoke with Hornady and they suggested using .264 Win mag data and working up from that.

What twist did you get? Length? What projectile and what powders are you going to try first?

Dang...It going to be a long two months (for me)....
