I think it's awesome to have a Berger liaison here on the forum. You don't see that much these days with most big companies. I think it shows the good character of their company. They started out as a small company, always willing to help their customers, and it still gives you that small company feel to get personalized help here on the forum when you need it.Customer support trolling to make customers happy. Nice
Hey Mud, I have had the same experience as you with Retumbo and have always been very happy with 7828.Also, like I have posted many times before, I could never get Retumbo to shoot well in ANY of my 7mm rifles. Not sure why, but it never would. I have had excellent success with IMR 7828 SSC.
Probably missing something here, but isn't that basically the same load and seating depth you started with? Anything changed?View attachment 93314 View attachment 93315 I made it back to the 100 yard range today.
Was able to get 1/2" repeatable 3 shot group with Berger 180 VLD and 68.8 g of Retumbo that was .015 off of the lands. Would like tighter spread on my velocities. Was getting 40 to 50 extreme spread on these two groups.
I also shot RL23 today. Although the groups were not as tight, the velocities were. For my 3 shot groups I consistently saw ES between 8 and 15 for 6 different three shot groups.
Try another powder. I couldn't get Retumbo to work in any of my rifles. Try IMR 7828 SSC or IMR 7977. Also, try seating the Bergers 0.015" off the lands.
I haven't had the chance to do any precision shooting in the last couple years. Between moving, working, and then looking for work, I haven't had much time. Hopefully this year I can get back into the swing of things.Great thread, tagging in.
Have had good success with 70.5 / 7977 in Nosler cases, with (gasp) 160 Partitions and CCI-BR2 primers. Shooting inside of 3/4 moa out to 635y with a Tikka T3 Superlite in a B&C stock. MV is definitely lower than would be with Accubond/Bergers based on MOA drop.
MudRunner, I haven't had the chance to chrono the 7977. Have you? How are the ES #'s?
