I am not sure where to put this thread where the most people could read it so I just slapped it in here.

I bought a pair of Kenetrek boots a while back as I do a lot of hunting in some rough areas. The boots were superb and super comfortable. My feet didn't even hurt while doing the break in. I know everyones feet are different and some love kenetrek boots and some say they don't fit them right. But my experience has been all good. I have done my part to take care of these boots. I have cleaned the boots and oiled the leather after every hunt. The leather is scratched up but in very good condition.

I had them for a while and the tread was starting to get worn down and the rubber lining on the side of the boot was starting to come apart. I sent them in to get new laces, soles and pads put in as well as a new rubber lining. They do this service for $175 which is better than having to buy another pair of $450 boots. It took a few months to get them back and when I did, I was a little miffed that the cobbler did a sloppy job on sealing the rubber lining on the side of the boot. I could just look at it and tell that it was going to come undone and I know nothing about making boots. I sent their CS an email with pictures and an explanation. They replied within a day and said that they apologized for the bad experience and to send them back in and they would take care of it right away. Well I had a few hunts coming up soon so I told them that and that I would send them in if they didn't hold up after my hunts.

The sealant and rubber lining started giving way after the first hunt. After my 4th hunt was over, the rubber lining was coming undone in many places on each shoe. I emailed them last week and explained the deal all over again and I got an email back very soon stating to just send the boots in and they would evaluate them. So I sent them in and within three days, I got an email stating that they had received my boots and did an evaluation on them and would be repairing the boots at no cost.

To me that is great customer service and proof that they stand behind their product. If you are ever in the market for some very nice hunting boots but are unsure if the price is worth it, Kenetrek boots are definitely worth the money. They even sell them on this website I do believe.

How old were the boots when the rubber rand wrap began delaminating?

And how many miles do you estimate on your boots when the rubber wrap began separating?

I have had the boots for almost 4 years. So quite a few miles on the initial boot from when I first bought them. But when I sent it in to repair and had the less than ideal laminating done, it was around 80 miles on them after I got them back.

I have a pair also and love them. But I do think they had better back them for repairs with the initial cost being so high.

Korhil, I'm thinking they should have sent you a return label and not made you pay for the shipping to get them back to them. When I mailed mine, cost me almost $20 for the size of the package and insurance.
Glad they offered to take care of them. Hopefully they will have someone do a better job on the re-repair.

You sound like a very loyal Kenetrek customer but it sounds to me like you shouldn't be too happy with them...

You have an optimistic view on the boots but if you look at it the other way around, the whole thing doesn't sound too good...for example: Before you even wore out your first set of treads, the side of the boot started coming apart.
So you sent them in for a repair and the, "cobbler did a crappy job."
You kept hunting with them but after your 4th hunt, each shoe started coming apart! You then sent them in and they fixed them for you.
I respectfully say to you that even though you are happy with their customer service, it sounds to me that you should be pretty ****ed-off about the quality of boots that you paid $455.00 for!

Their customer service sounds great but their boot quality does not. I have a pair of Asolo's that I had resoled 3 times already and the leather, eyelets, etc are scuffed-up but still good as new.

I wouldn't be too happy if I were you.

Just my 2 cents;)

I bought my 1st pair of Kennetreks about 10 years ago. They have given me a new pair of boots every two years since because they started leaking. Season before last they said they had to fix them and I was without my hunting voots for the whole season. Got my boots back shortly after the season ended. This season they seemed to leak again. I will be testing them myself in the bathtub shortly before I send them back again. I will say that they are by far the most comfortable boot I have ever worn. I would like to wear a pair out rather than have wet feet when I really don't want them. I hunt very hard and have no trouble putting over 100 miles per season in rough country on my boots in tough rocky mountain conditions. It flat irritates me that I can buy a cheep $80 pair of goretex boots that never leak no matter what I do to them and my boots that are nearly $500 only last one good year before they leak. My buddys have the insulated models with no trouble and mine are the uninsulated models. If they leak on my bathtub test it will ask them to replace them with the insulated models even though I prefer the uninsulated ones. Like it said I would rather wear them out than have them fail in the middle of a tough hunt.

Outstanding boot but not sure what I should do.

That would be enough for me Steve:(

I have been using Asolo's and I wear them daily use too. I also have a pair of Crispi's that I like too.

For 500 bucks I don't think that they should leak when crappy 80 dollar Chinese made boots never do.

I talked with a local dealer and they said the biggest problem they have with them is leaking. I think maybe they don't use the best membrane. They are so comfortable though, I am not sure that I can find as good of a boot that way. I have heard good things about the Crispi's but the ones I have touched do not feel quite as stiff as the Kennetreks.

This is my first time ever having a problem with them. So I will see how it is handled and go from there. It the rubber lining still looks bad this time, I will just wear them until failure send them back for a free repair again and start looking for a new boot. I really like the boot though and hope that it works out.

I agree Steve, that the Crispi's are not as stiff as the Kenetreks but the Asolo's are pretty stiff.

I just can't believe that with the complaints they are getting on a $500 boot, they haven't sorted the problem out yet.

PS: I got the action yesterday and I'm just waiting on the barrel and Manners to finish my stock to send it to you for my load development:)

I have three pairs; Mountain Extreme, Hardscrabble, and Desert Guide. I have had the Hardscrabble rebuilt. With Lathrop and Sons inserts, they are about the only thing I can wear daily and for hunting with my plantar fasciitis and knee pain.
