1) I bought a 1940 Win M70 in 300 H&H a month ago.
2) I ordered a Defiance hunter action with 4" Wyatt magazine cut on Friday.

I ordered a 7mm STW reamer on Friday

I have built 7mm Rem Mag rifles in the past, (3) on Rem 700 actions, (1) VZ24 action, (1) Mosin Nagant action. I have tried a lot of bullet weights and settled on 140 gr Nos Bal Tips or 140 gr Nos Accubonds.

I need to order a couple barrels.

Go with at least a 1:9 if not 1:8.5 or 1:8 twist if you want to shoot heavier than 165gr bullets and the faster twists if you want to shoot the "Heavies".

That M70 action is my favorite.

If you are dead set on those go 1-10 twist. Id go 1-9 just in case you want to scratch a heavier itch in the future.

I like cut rifled, Bartlein or Krieger, 3B/#5 contour, 28" finish length, fluted, side ported brake

Pull the knife out of my heart! I am a collector of Pre-64's and a 300 HH is so desirable. Please donate it to me and I will send you a Rem 700 action that will fit the STW. At least the barrel to me?

I can see I ordered 3 barrels from Barlien

Uh oh....
The first time I ordered 3 of anything I new I had a gun problem....

Don't worry, we are here for you and your problem.

Let us know your progress so the rest of us can order 3 of something else.

Seriously though, keep us all posted on the successes you will have.

Have you shot the .300 H&H? It could change your mind, mine surprised me on what could be done with a modern stock, and components.

A sad day when I had to accept mine was done....,.
Back in the day when I was chipping my reloading notes on a stone tablet, I started to switch to papyrus . Then that 8 mmRM came out without a proper bullet. Layne necked it down to 7 and made one of the arguably best cartridges we had seen the 270.

If we would have had decent 0.323 bullets at the time, our quest for long range cartridges would have slowed down. Remington was too proud to make a 338 of that case at the time as it would have been 340 WBY without the curves

Now the STW still is the best balance for today's powders and projectiles

Please keep tuning and improving the STW.

And Harpec, the 300 HH started all of this! Ok, the 375HH might had a minor role too.

Joep17,
A few years back, uslly, more then a few, I shot one of 8 mags, it was stupid accurate, but it kicked like a scalded mule. The guy that had it, didn't reload, and , gave me his brass. But that thing would shoot. Any more, and it would NEED, a brake.
I know where there is a m70, in 300hh..!!!!!!!#.
