Advice on lightweight hunting pack

I don't know if you can have the best of both worlds. For strictly packing, I would recommend a Bullpac frame. https://bullpacs.com/ I use a Nimrod hunting pack as a day pack, it's expandable, relatively quiet, but not waterproof. http://www.nimrodoutdoor.com/
Thanks for the links. The bullpac is too heavy. The nimrod system looks good but i could not find weights on the frame and bag. Any idea whT they weigh?

I was thinking of maybe some type of light frame that could be paired with a daypack. And then with a bigger backpack as well.. but the frame would be light but able to haul weight.
Have to admit..the idea of getting a good light backpacking pack and having a quiet cover is an interesting idea.
Have you looked into the KUIU icon pro series? It consists of a carbon fiber frame that can accept a few different bags sized bags. I have one and love it.

A hunting buddy got an Icon new for this season. A couple of zipper pulls tore off. i know that isn't major, but an indication to me of the overall Chinese quality.

Your buddy got an Icon or an Icon Pro? There is a significant difference. I've had an Icon Pro since about late 2014 (whenever they were first available) and have been happy with it. I train with it loaded to about 70 lbs every summer. I have hauled mule deer out on 3 separate hunts and its done fine for me. Light wt is a relative term. The Kuiu Icon Pro is lighter in wt than some packs at comparable bag volume and has worked very well when loaded, for me. Is it the best, that is up to each individual to answer based on their needs. You can also check out Kifaru, Stone Glacier, Exo, among others, but these seem to get lots of praise. All have their features and benefits. As was mentioned before, comfort under load is going to be dependent on your physical strength, stamina, endurance, etc. along with pack fit and pack quality.

I have. I almost pulled the trigger on one but saw negative reviews about breaking things and that it was noisy. Kinda scared me away at the price

I tried several of the packs you see advertised but none of them can come close to the comfort of hauling heavy loads as the Kifaru does for me. Buy once cry once would be my advice.

I have the Stone Glacier Sky Talus 6900. It's not camo but a good neutral color. It is an awesome bag. Has a pocket on the side for tripod legs that tightens down and good side straps with buckles to tighten everything down. Has two side pockets that can carry a spotting scope. The best thing about it is that it has a middle zipper that goes the length of the bag. No more opening up the top and having to dig something out of the bottom of your pack. You just unzip and get what you need.

If you are going for just a day trip, the side pockets fold in and get strapped down so you are just left with the main middle compartment. So you get the best of both worlds in one pack. A day pack that can be used to haul out an elk if needed to or a bag that you can take in for a 7 day trip and still haul out an elk.

The new x curve frame is made of carbon fiber and titanium and is rated for 150 lbs. the hip belts come in different sizes and are very comfortable. The whole setup weighs 5.81 lbs! That's the lightest that I know of with that kind of carrying capacity. I found that I didn't need all of those extra little pockets that other packs have.

Thanks!!!

X2 on Kifaru. Although not the lightest pack out there they are the most comfortable pack I've worn. Not that they are for everyone. Pricey but I wish I would've bought one long ago. All made in the good ole USA to boot.
