Best powder for .223 55 & 62 gr.?

Wyo7200, run a Quickload with RamShot Exterminator for him and 55gr Ballistic Tip.

I worked like crazy to get a Varget load that would shoot in my AR with 55BTs, never found one.

First load I tried with Xterminator went <1/2in at 100 ...

Of the two you mentioned I would go with the Tac for 55-62gr bullets I think the AR Comp is tailored to the heavy pills for long rang competition.

If Mr. Light gets back on here and asks for it I may. He hasn't posted anything since the 3rd so I wonder if he's still following this thread.

yes, I read all of these. I should have added that my best target barrels are 20 & 24 inch wylde SS and I have the choices of 1:8 and 1:9 twist. I bought a bunch of 62 grain HPBT with high BC , something like .336.

I was lucky enough to get jugs of AR-comp when it was still cheap. 24.4 gr with Remington BR primers is my go to round. Other powders that I tried with great results were allient 2000 MR, H414, and I even developed some load using LeveRevolution. TAC I just quit buying. CFE when exceeding 3050 fps could never do the fine groups like the others.

This is the new 62 grain HPBT compared to a 62 FMJ

Update. Using my 1:9 20 inch stainless fluted match grade barreled AR-15 and adjusting 10 different powders to right at 3100 fps using 62 gr HPBT. It was a toss up with H414, AR-comp, and the new boy on the block alliant 2000 MR as to what I did the best at 200 yards.

I pulled one, but this is quite the squirrel gun 200 yrd 24.6 gr AR-comp Rem. bench rest primers
