Cooper Long Range Hunter 264 Win Mag

I thought that I'd open a can of worms and throw this one out there.....
I just placed my order for my Cooper M52 LRX in 264 Win Mag. It will have a 26" barrel with a 1 in 8 twist. What's the consensus of the ideal bullet if I want to use this as a deer/elk rig out to 650 yards?
I've got most of the 6.5 bullets out there so let me know what you think...

Welcome to the club! Don't spend too much barrel on fussing over a load. Just pick a couple of the bullets that fit your situation and go have a good time. I have had great luck and accuracy with the 140g berger hybrid. I am awaiting the arrival of the 155g Berger and I am building another 264 win right now to take advantage of that bullet.

140 Berger vld works great out of mine. Should be able to get 3100 pretty easily with most powders, mine likes RL26. Check out my thread on my late elk hunt to see it in action on a big bull at 650.

Used to run 130 grain swift sciroccos. 140 grain bergers would be another good one or the new 155 berger whenever they hit the shelves

I have never hunted elk because they don't live where I do in hunt-able numbers but I have killed a good number of deer with my 264 Win mag. It has a 9" twist Shilen barrel so I chose the 130 gr Nosler Accubond. I have shot over two dozen deer from 25 to just over 500 yards and this bullet reacts the same. I usually shoot through the shoulders and the bullet goes in scrambles the vitals and exits about nickel size. I have never had a deer go over a couple of death dancing steps after receiving one and most drop like the ground has been jerked out from under them. I recovered only one and it was into a buck almost length wise. Smashed the left shoulder went length wise of buck and was found against the smashed right ham ball socket. Text book mushroom and weight was 87 grs. If I was going elk hunting this would be the rifle and load I would use. Oh! my rifle has a 27 3/4" barrel and this bullet does 3350 fps with Retumbo.

Our 124g Hammer Hunter would run 50 to 100 fps over conventional lead core bullets with a g7 bc of .245 it would be tough to catch for a very long time down range with thw heavy lead core bullets. And they will not have any issue when taking animals at normal or short range. You will find meat damage to be minimal with very good terminal performance. I would look at ramshot magnum for powder.
