They finally did it!! 6.5 cal 155 grain Berger Elite Hunter!!!

Glad I am adding a Wyatt's extended box in my R700SA being chambered in 6.5 SS. I was just about to order a bunch of 150 & 160 Matrix. Glad I waited.

Maybe I missed it somewhere in this thread.....does anyone know the BC of this bullet?

Not yet. Broz is doing testing with them to try to come up with a BC that is close, but that is all we know for now. Berger is going to be announcing them at shot show.

Man I hope these will work in a 6.5x284, 1-8 twist at 4300+ ft elevation!! That or I might be rebarreling another rifle for them depending on how they perform

My prediction is that it will have slightly less BC and velocity than the the 147 eldm. I hope i'm wrong.

Got a little more info on the 155 Berger as far as overall length. This is from Broz over on the Long Range Only site. He compared the 143 ELD-X to the 155 Berger. So when the two bullets are set the same distance from the lands, the 155 Berger has approximately a .068" longer OAL, depending on the bullet OAL, as it varies slightly due to the tip. I'll use my .260 Ackley as an example:

The 143 ELD-X OAL in my rifle is 2.880 touching the lands, so that means the 155 will be approximately 2.948" OAL.

He also was able to get the 155 up to 2780 plus change in his 24" 6.5 creed with H4350. Looks like he backed down to 2750 for better accuracy

the 155 gr Bergers will fly just fine from a 110 gr h20 case at 3500 fps

the 160 gr Matrix VLD's work very well and so do the 165 gr Chinchaga RBT bullets, have 500 pcs of the 150 gr SMK's coming from Powder Valley and have 2 jugs of US869 to burn up a 30" 8 tw Bartlein barrel with a 7 tw Rock Creek in progress

just don't understand the idea of wasting time messing around with the puny creed case and the 155 gr bullet, is this some sort of subsonic attempt with a suppressor ?

lot's of superior SAAMI cartridges readily available if not wanting to run with a wildcat
