Dear Wisconsin Shooters,
I am thinking about opening a new range that would reach out to 1.5 miles. I am deeply disappointed that we Wisconsin residents have only one place to shoot long range. Further more this range would be open to the public, no $300 member fee or waiting list required, and would include a 50 yard range, a 100 yard range and a pistol range. This range would be located somewhere near Freedom, WI, for those of you who are unfamiliar, right in between Appleton and Green Bay.
Now I am aware there is not much need for this type of facility as the hunting community usually does not take shots this long. However, I feel like there are many people who would attend classes and would like to learn how to shoot at greater distances if they knew how and had the place to practice.
In addition I would open a shop for you to buy primers, brass, powder, bipod and all the necessary equipment. We would also have our own competitions for whoever would like to participate with quality prizes given to the winner.
However good this may sound to you, I am not going to open if there is little response. I am not in the business of throwing money down the toilet. So if you live in Wisconsin, or in surrounding states and would be willing to travel, please leave a comment yes or no, why or why not, if if you have any good ideas please let me know. Thank you for your most valuable time and consideration.

Josh - this would be AWESOME! I know of a couple of people, plus myself, that are trying to get ready for KO2M and would GREATLY appreciate something like this!!

As of right now I'm working on writing a curriculum for long range precision rifle class. My pistol instructor is writing up his class for pistol 101 and fighting pistol. Once we have a business plan ready and have crunched some numbers with our investors we will be ready to go. We have several plots of land we are scheduled to look at because our first location fell through. The first plot we looked at had several barns and a house right in the middle of the lot. It was also a part of a DNR wild life refuge and they were unwilling to relinquish rights to private property. I know weird right. So this is where we stand. I also have a few other instructions interested in holding their own classes.

Hello,
Can you please list your instructors along with their credentials?
And are the new plots of land going to be able to facilitate the 1.5 mile distance you were talking of originally?

I am not willing to name instructors in an open forum at this time because I have not been given permission to do so by the instructors. The lots we are currently looking at will not accommodate 1.5 miles. However, with the end game, for me at least, is the study of projectiles in flight and all the science behind it. It's easy to hit MOA sized targets out to 1100 yards even with a .308 Winchester. In order to stay competitive we will always be expanding to meet customers needs.

I would definitely be interested in this range. Shiocton range is great but just shy of 600. We shoot 1000 yards at a private site in northern WI when we can. I've also been looking at long range opportunities in other states like Utah and Wyoming; for the fun and challenge.

How is you plan coming along, we will be ready to start some testing on a few things shortly. Hopefully you are still close to the 2000 yard mark.

Cheers

Sorry it's been a while since I've been on and responded. As it stands right now, the trust is being established in which to transfer the property. We hope that the legal instruments will be in place before the end of the summer to begin construction. The 2,000 yard mark might be harder than I thought to achieve. But location came into play with our purchase. I believe with minor alterations to the landscape 1,600 yards is what we'll be looking to start with and probably extend out from there. There is property on the border of our proposed property that we will be seeking ownership of over time. But for now we are being respectful of owners who hold those properties. We have a design and property agreements in place so long as the trust is structured in our bennifit. I look forward to more quality updates in the near future. Thanks all for being patient and respectful.
