Christensen 300 wsm

I just ordered a ridgeline in 300 wsm. I believe it has a 24" tube with a 1:10 twist. What would be a good LR factory load for hunting large whitetail 200-300 pounds. Also what is the max lethal range, if the Bullet is in the right spot. I already have a 308 and a 6.5x284 Norma. Hoping this rig will stabilize heavier pills?

I would look at HSM ammo with the Berger 210 or 185 Hunting VLD bullet. Either will get you to 800 yards for elk and deer with their published 2991 FPS and 2760 FPS respectively.

I have shot 210 VLDs in my WSM and they were very accurate.

What are your thoughts on the new hornady precision hunter with 200 eldx? Will the 1:10 twist stabilize 200 grain bullets?

I have a 300 Norma with 1:10 twist. I have used bullets up to 230 gr with sub .5moa accuracy so yes I think you be fine.

Yep. I have Ridgelines in 6.5 Creedmoor and 300 Win Mag. Love them. Both shoot 1/2"-3/4" 5 shot groups at 100 yds. I don't care much for the factory stocks, but that's personal preference. I put them both in McMillan Game Wardens.

I like the Berger 210 VLD as well in my custom 300shortmag. They are very accurate in my rig. The 185 Berger is equally accurate but I reload. For whitetail the 185 is plenty with good velocity and muzzle energy waaay down range. I elk hunt so I prefer the 210. Either from HSM would be good. Good luck this season.

The 210's are overlooked by many. I actually prefer the 210's in my 300NM for hunting.
Now if I were only interested in banging steel at 1000+yards, the 230's are the way to go.

I loaded the 185 Berger in 300WSM for my friend's Savage. He kills a cow elk every year with it. One shot in the heart/lungs and straight down. He used HSM the first year and hand loads since. We tried the 210's but his rifle liked the 185's better. Perhaps get a box of both to try since no two rifles are the same. Good luck

My Sako 75 in 300 WSM loves Winchester Supreme 180gr Accubonds. I handload now and shoot the 200gr ELDX (if I'm not using a 180gr AB handload), so I would expect the new Hornady Precision Hunter ammo to be great in your rifle. I get more velocity (2952 fps) than their factory round (2820 fps). I used the ELDX 8 days ago to drop a nice 5x5 New Mexico bull elk in its tracks.
I have a Christensen Arms Classic in 338 Lapua and love the rifle. I still have a hard time believing how light that rifle is. You will enjoy yours!!

My 30-Nosler is a pleasure, haven't killed anything yet, but I have multiple days backpacking it around this season and about 40 rounds through the tube.

I live in California and we go lead free at the end of this season. I will be hand loading 181 gr Hammer Hunters in my Nosler brass. I'm shooting 210 gr Factory Nosler ABLRs right now and saving brass.

The factory twist on your Ridgeline May limit the size of the bullet that you can stabilize.

If stability is a concern, I believe Berger bullets via Brian Lutz has a stability calculator you can use to gauge the stability of various bullet weights, bc etc. at different elevations. I handload my 300shortmag with 210 Berger in a 1:12 twist. At sea level the resulting data is not a confidence builder, lol. But when hunting elk at 9000 ft it says I'm looking not too bad. If you input your data for Berger 185s or even the 190s, I'd think you'd be ok. Again, HSM ammo loads Bergers for you 300shortmag and might be a good choice, good BCs on the Bergers .
