ten 4 on the 284, I appreciate the info are you shooting h4350 on the creed with lapua brass just curious, I'm from Az so I always like using temp stable powder even if I have to sacrifice some speed

The 260. Rem and 6.5 creedmoor are basically the same round. The 260. Rem isn't more powerful just different. The 260. Rem has more case capacity, but the 6.5 creedmoor has more useable case capacity cause of a little shorter case but longer neck allowing equal velocity and power

if you want a single shot 6.5-284. repeater .243 . lapua brass is available for each

Yes I think that is going to be my choice, but it's a toss up with the 260 I'm still weighing out options

260 a great all around cartridge along with the 6.5 creed. Lots of ammunition choices with with the 6.5 creedmoor so thats the route I have chosen for myself.

But if wanting to build a 6mm, I think 6 creed is your best bet. I'm shooting both Hornady and Copper Creek ammunition at .25moa out of a 1:7.5 proof barrel.

I´m running a 18.5" Benchmark on my 6.5CM and i get 2737 fps using 42gr of RL-17 behind 143gr ELD-X´s

That's great only thing bad for me the RL-17 doesn't do well in the cold , for hunting that sucks , its great on speed but we usually hunt in cold weather sometimes lol..

6.5 Sherman Short Mag.
I am pushing a 142 SMK @ 3140 for my fire forming loads in an R700 short action, still a repeater too. I am expecting 3200+ with my fully sized loads.

dam that's awesome I've read only a little about the Sherman here on this website i'll look more into it . If I'm not mistaken a guy out of Idaho made that as a wildcat

And Eric Goss @ AxisWorks in Tempe builds a ton of them. They are awesome.
I have 2 different 6.5mm rifles. A 6.5 SLR and a .260 Rem. Since they are basically the same thing, I rechambered my .260 Rem into the 6.5 SS. I gained 300fps right off the bat with my fire forming loads. Hope for another 50+ more when load development is complete. The fire forming loads are also shooting in the .3s.

This was with my Premier Heritage on it just to check clearance.



Here it is with the permanent scope. S&B PMII 5-25×56.

That's not entirely true. I'm getting velocities that most 260 guys don't seem to get. As said before, the 260 does have slightly more capacity, but the creed has more useable capacity making it more efficient.

All that being said, i assume you reload, which opens to nearly endless possibilities. I prefer the 6.5mm cartridges to 6mms. 6mms may shoot slightly flatter, but the 6.5s drift less, hit harder, and have higher SD bullets. In hunting applications that come in handy. For targets, it's a toss up. However, your only stating 600 yards as a max range. A 243 or 6mm creed is more than capable of taking medium game out to 600 yards. If you already have 6mm loading supplies then I'd just stick with that. If you would like to change, then the 6.5 cm is very hard to beat on the S.A. only other 2 I'd do would be 7mm-08 or a 260AI
