My brother and myself took our kids out to Wyoming for some antelope hunting this last weekend. We showed up to Gillette Saturday afternoon, set up our tent in a buddies yard, and on Sunday went checked out a property to hunt. Did not go out Sunday. Monday morning it was raining, so we only got out at 8 o clock. By 10am we were done with our hunt, 3 antelope does down and cooling in the coolers. First one my 16 year old nephew took at about 150 yards. Second antelope down was a shot by my daughter at 497 yards, she just nailed her with my Tikka in 7 SAUM (rebarreled by a forum member- Handler). And the last antelope was taken by my 14 yo nephew. He made a.645 yard shot. These were all first round hits, the kids all practiced the whole summer out to 1,100 yards. Spent one more night in Gillette, got time to visit with a friend and we are back home Tuesday night.
THANK YOU WYOMING!!!

Congrats on your success. It was a bit wet this yr. Some of those back roads were a bit muddy. Good for you bringing the kids. Bruce

It was raining, but the kids really enjoyed the hunt. Makes for some real good memories. A big thank you to Levi Williams and Fonzi Haskell for making it happen, both from the Gillette area. Couple outstanding fellas.

Now THAT'S the kind of dad most kids would envy. Congrats. Your kids will have great lifetime memories and they now have more self confidence in ways you never expected.

Congratulations to you and your kids. Lots of good memories. Wyoming is a great state to visit and hunt.

I took my wife to Wyoming for her first antelope hunt between Wright and Newcastle on private land. We were both successful on mid 70's bucks. More great Wyoming memories for us.

With the kids growing so fast, it will be a fond distant memory real quick. But then again, I have 5 more kids to make memories with. Nothing beats being outdoors with the children.

Good story! Unit 23 is no joke I have heard, public land is reputed to be very difficult but I was in Newcastle and talked to a couple guys who had come from 23 and they claimed that with some real hunting they tagged out in a day on public.

Were you on private or public?

We were on private. We have hunted that area on public twice before and tagged out both times. Second time was a little more difficult. Because we showed up week after the opener. We were going to do public, but all the cubic land tags were sod out. Just really greatful someon let our kids hunt on their property.
