Berger Elite Hunter 6.5mm 140 gr

where do you guys seat these bullets in relation to the lands for accuracy?

I plan to load some for my 6.5x300 WBY....... I know it has freebore and magazine max length is 3.7"

There is no Generic answer, every gun is different. Seat them out as long as the mag box will allow as long as about 3/4 of the neck has ahold of the bullet then you only have one direction to go to test bullet seating depth for accuracy. Just my 2 cents.

There is a good chance that you won't be able to load long enough to get close to the lands with how much freebore the Weatherbys have. Use Berger's advised method of loading 6 each at different jumps and see what it likes.

With that much horsepower, I would look into the 160 gr Matrix.

That depends on what you plan to shoot. They should have no problem killing any critter form goaphers up to elk and moose. Energy and shot placement is what relay counts when the bullet hits. Depends on how fast eh bullets going and where you hit a coyote it would be to much bullet.

IF you can seat the bullet out to touch the lands. Start your bullet seating depth testing at .015 OFF THE LANDS. Then work back into the cartridge case in .005 increments with our HYBRID Elite Hunter bullets. You have to find what YOUR rifle likes in the way of bullet seating depth and velocity to be at its most accurate. Any bullet seating depth testing should be done at the lowest powder charge listed for the bullet/powder/cartridge combination you are testing. Once the bullet seating depth accuracy node is found. Work the load back up slowly checking for pressure signs and accuracy until your highest velocity accuracy node is found. I just loaded to mag length in my Barrett Fieldcraft, 42.2 gr H4350, bingo. They are very accurate.

Although much slower than what you are shooting, this is the first time I just loaded to mag length and it produced exceptional groups. I would say try the seating depth at what you wish it to be and then adjust. I just won't have a cartridge that I have to single load.
