Experiences welcome with all or any in the 160gr weight range (162-168). I'm thinking about building a light weight 284win on a rem700 short action hoping these will feed from the mag. Primary use will be deer and elk. If I could I'd run the berger 180's but I'm pretty certain they will be too long.

Don't eliminate the 180 hybrids until you try them ! They're my go to bullets for all my 7mm magnums, both short and long.

I think I'd have to jump them quite a bit in a short action. I have plenty of those to try.

I jump them quite a bit in my SAUM, they work great for me. I don't jump them quite as far in my 300 win mag but both rifles are capable of extreme accuracy.

There is a 180 VLD and a 180 Hybrid Target bullet available in 7mm . The Hybrid bullets aren't marketed for hunting but their performance on game has been well documented.

175 ABLR is the best bullet I have used great performance and opening up along with excellent long range accuracy and power. Shot my deer at 566 this year and complete exit out of the lungs. My antelope was 375 and I have a picture of it.
