28 Nosler 168 Vld Load Data

Guys, I'm working up a load for a Nosler M48 and was wondering if anyone had some real world load data for the 168 Vld? I'm limited to a OACL of 3.410 due to the Magazine. I'm hoping to use H1000 but I have some Retumbo, IMR 7828SSC and some IMR 4831. All loads with F215 primers I just found recently at gun shop!!

I talked to the folks at Berger and they are saying H1000 Max 79.2. Retumbo 82.8 Max 7828 74.1 Max.

Thoughts? Suggestions?

With 168vld seated .007 jump I've only shot h1000 to 3100 before pressure signs. Retumbo to 3220 before pressure signs so far. I'll do a seating depth test at 82gr Retumbo for groups.

Is this with a Nosler M48 Rifle? The closest I can get to lands from what I can tell is .050" off due to mag length. I tried some H1000 today and didn't get any groups under MOA with loads from 79-80.5. No pressure signs right at 3100.
 
So the berger test with 79 grains. Since your at 50 off I would do 70-90-120. I had a great load with 168s shooting 80 off on my 7mm mag.
 
And with a 28 nosler and 168s you should be able to get 3200 I would imagine even with a salami chamber.

My chamber is just about perfect. The boat tail is right at the neck junction.
I went up one grain at a time . Only 40 rounds down the barrel yet, my velocity should increase in a hundred rounds. Also should have mentioned , its a 26" bbl

Tbrice23 any update? I'm heading to range early tomorrow morning while it's somewhat cool with some loads at 84 grains of Retumbo at various seating depths. I'll post results later.

I loaded 5 each at -.005", -.025", -.045", -.065", -.085" with no obvious accuracy signs at 200 yards. Maybe this barrel does not like Retumbo or I need to jump farther like .100" or .120" or something.

Going for RL33 Saturday. Loaded up to 85.3 gr at .015 off. Will update.
 
RL 33 is what guys are using for the 195's. It could work..... I would try H1000 or RL26 with a 168. RL33 is quite a bit slower than retumbo. I shoot N570 with my 28 and 195's. Where are you located?

Indiana, 710' ASL.
I understand 33 is a slow powder for 168gr but Retumbo is giving pressure signs at 80% case capacity. H1000 got pressure signs at 75%. Both at 70°F. This barrel might have a tight bore.??

83 gr gave pressure signs
I know quite a few people who use retumbo for 195s. There usually around 78-79.5 grains. I would also clean it.
I'm cleaning every other range session, about every 35 to 40 rounds
Have heard that RL 33 can give false pressure signs from being so dirty. Usually after 25-30 rounds.
Haven't tried 33 yet probably tomorrow. Will update.

Try our BERGER VLD bullet seating depth testing :http://www.bergerbullets.com/vld-making-shoot/. be sure to use the HUNTING version. Any bullet seating depth testing should be done at the lowest powder charge listed for the bullet/powder/cartridge combination you are testing. Once the bullet seating depth accuracy node is found. Work the load back up slowly checking for pressure signs and accuracy until your highest velocity accuracy node is found. IF you find that after your bullet seating depth accuracy node is found. Try our 7mm 168gr CLASSIC HUNTER BULLET :
