Anyone shooting heavy 140-147 grain bullets out if their x47? I see the 260 and creed guys doing it and think I might try some. Looking for advice on powders or load data. I have some 147 ELD-M. Currently run 130 Bergers at just under 3000 fps with H4350.

I'd say give it a try. Seems like could work with what you have. I use the 140 VLD and H4350 in my 260 Rem with great results.

Got a few bullets loaded up. Will shoot and see where I hit pressure. Had no idea where to start, so will start at 35 gr of R26.

I've run 140 VLDs exclusively in my 6.5x47 precision rifle. I've used H4350, Varget and IMR4166.

I'm sure H4350 is a better burn rate for the 140s but I'm out and haven't sourced anymore. IMR4166 is working quite well but academically, it's too fast of a powder for 140s.

I've had good results with 140s pushed by Varget, H4350, and 7828ssc and 147s pushed by H4350 and 7828ssc.

John. What kind of speed did you get with the 147? Not much data out there for this bullet. From what I have seen 27-2750fps looks max out of 26-28" barrels.

Are you using an 8 twist for the 140 gr + projectiles? Also curious about trajectory differences with the 147's out to 1K compared to 130's/140's. Beeman it will be interesting to hear how RL26 works for you.

R26 didn't work for me. The x47 case is to small. Worked up to 41 gr and only got 2530 fps. On the burn rate chart 7828 looks similar to R26, but I couldn't get enough R26 into the case to make speed. I will try H4350 and Varget at a later date. The 147's did shoot great though. From 38 to 41 gr all produced one ragged hole. My gun had a 26" 8 twist Broughton MTU contour. It may still be worth pursuing if I could get 2700 fps. Now I'm anxious to try the 147 in my 6.5 Sherman.

Yeah they are definitely a big bullet for that case. But from what I seen from other guys 2700 fps should be doable. The 6.5x47 is impressive but it can only do so much. I'm not prepared to run super high pressures and wreck brass. Might be better off running a 140 gr hybrid.

130 Hybrid would be ideal in that case.
It's right on the heals in drift of the 140 and shoots flatter out to the yardage the case capacity is capable.

Yeah my 130 Berger load will be hard to beat. RBros built my x47 and I'm shooting the load Travis developed. But it's fun trying new bullets. As I said, I think the 147 will run really good out of my Sherman.
