How accurate should a Ruger M77 ii in .270 be?

I have worked on M77s that shoot everything at or under 1MOA, and others that were very picky until I found the one load it liked. Then it shot 1/2MOA.
But I have found most rifles to be the same. Some factory ammo shoots 1 1/4" @ 100, then the next brand shoots 4". But a good handload will shoot sub-1/2".

I've got or had eight M77's accuracy depends on who Ruger outsourced the barrel manufacturing out to some where great some not so much. I have an 30-06 ,7mm Mag both that where horrible and 243 that was a little better the .223 caliber barrels I've had where all very good. My brother had the identical gun as mine in 7mm and his shoots great mine was very bad I finally sold it. The 30-06 and 243 have machine marks perpendicular to the bore that can be seen with naked eye at the muzzle. I've used the Tubbs Fire lap system on the 30-06 it did help quite a bit but it's far from a match barrel. The triggers can be reworked by a good smith or go after market. I have polished the trigger parts not removing any metal just taking some of the gritty feeling out I don't really suggest this. I like Rugers and was very happy to see them invest in the cold hammer forging equipment to get a handle on their barrel QC issues.
