"european turret" vs moa

Hello!
I am totally new to this forum and I seek a bit of info:
I have european scopes (swar / zeiss..) witch state for example:
1cm/100m per click. can I presume that the elevation per click evolves
further like 1,5cm/150m per click - 2cm/200m pc - 3cm/300m pc - 0,5cm/50m pc....
and calculate thus the amount of clicks needed to compensate for the drop of the bullet
at a given distance?

For example: zeroed at 100m my bullet drops 39cm at 300m
the turret says 1cm/100m
Is it correct to adjust 13 clicks up?
(3cm/300m pc for 39cm = 13?)

In short: How does the clicks work on a european scope?

Just out of curiosity what model scopes are we talking about here? As to your question...one centimeter equals 0.3937 inches @ 100m which is about .1 mil. So it sounds like your scope is in mils and you just need to learn metrics or stick with the imperial system. All my scopes are mil/mil and i use imperial, not a fan of metrics....but....if its def more easier to use if you understand it....until you have a range in yards...lol either As far as your drop goes... (.1) mil @ 100y is .36inches 1 mil is 3.6 inches at 100y. 36 inches at 1000y etc. its a regular mil scope, so your adjustments for elevations is going to be whatever your firing solution is for your elevation, temp, muzzle velocity etc. Look up ballistic software....

+1 on what dfanonymous response esp. in using a ballistic apps; makes life easier. There are plenty out there in the market some are even free.

.5 mil turrets....geez..you could get some distance out of that...not very precise...but far for sure.

We don't have much hunting scopes with "open" turrets (easy changeble)
due to gereral lower hunting distances. I guess
since a couple of years we see this more often in the highend scopes (zeiss/ swaro)
first it were stickers you had to stick on the turret (=not very precies:-(
now we start to see the turrets with dif rings you have to assemble yourself.

we see also few ffp-scopes but mostly sfp-scopes , even in high-end scopes

we have more the tradition of adapting the shotplacement insted of the scope
in our huntig situations I guess.

I'm trying to wrap my mind on MOA and scopes and cant. I was looking on line at the Vottex Razor, it said 125 elevation and 125 windage. If it takes 45 moa to achieve 800 yards then would this scope require a 20 cant to achieve that yardage? Confused thanks for any input.Also new to this sight.
 

Thanks good info. I'm in Texas and the average hunting shots are 80/150 yards unless I'm on the hill and then 600 to 1000 yard shots do open up. With the 125 elevation Vortex I guess with the reticle centered I'm working with 62 initially, so that's why I'm asking on cant. On another blog it was mentioned some were getting 10 inches on 100 yard zero?? so I'm asking the questions on moa cant. With average shots being as stated I'm questioning 10 degree compared to a 20 with initial 62 moa. The Defiance Hunter is 20 only and the tactical is 10, 20 but 4oz heavier. Many thoughts to consider from a #3 or #4 barrel 25 or 26 inch finish, fluting or none, stock choice etc. Again thanks for steering me to the blog I'm sure my questions have been hashed and rehashed but it is all knew for me.

Please accept my opolgies, I do not know how to navigate well but on the turret issue I watched. You tube where a person was upset about not having first plane and not getting Mil turret to mil reticle or Moa turret to Moa turret. But your thread was on optics so I figured it was a good place to ask. I will move on

It's Lievois thread not mine but like I said, you can start your separate thread so it is catered specific to your own query.
 
MCRANCH does not really mean "cant", he means "slope" for a Picatinny base or a one-piece scope mount. For example on my Ruger Precision Rifle I use for long range competition I have BOTH a 20 MOA slope n my Picatinny rail and the Nightforce Unimount. That's a total of 40 MOA for extreme long range shooting so I do not have to use up all my vertical turret adjustment.

Cant is the amount of lean, left or right, you make to the rifle when shooting. This lean throws your bullet left if you lean right and vice-versa.

Yes, thanks for helping me with the shooting language. I'm now at trying to understand
turrets, since this thread was about euro turrets. Now more mind bending info Mrad or Moa.? I will bow out now.
