You'll enjoy your 300WSM on a L/A platform.
It's a real Ferrari when you give it all the advantages.
Long bbl. Long throat. Long Action. Lots of room in the mag.
180 AB's & 200 AB's both shoot quite well, & now that I FINALLY have my hands on some 190 ABLR's I'm hoping I have found the perfect combo for my all inclusive, allround, near, mid, & Long Range style of hunting.
Time will tell.
I've had great luck with Nosler Brass, & it's been prevalent around here.
I'm currently in the process of helping my dad out with his 30 Nosler build.

Winmag, I'm really looking forward to the finished product! My stock arrives monday and then it's of to the smith for the build. I just need to nail down my optic now.
Also, I picked up some Norma brass on sale. Will grab some Nosler eventually as well.

How are you feeding these from tikkas? I always thought they'd be great in one but didn't see any positive results beyond lapua ai mags and clip bottom metal. I'd prefer to keep a lower profile mag.

This is a great thread! If anyone will still comment, what modifications to the long action magazine were made to help the fat case feed? Does the parent action caliber have a play in that as well? I'm assuming most were 7mm RM and 300WM actions??
Swamplord, i noticed your cbto is the same for each bullet. Is this common? Would the cbto be different for each bullet due to ogive differneces? Im planning on using the 212s for a build and want to get the freebore where it needs to be.
I use a Wyatt center feed mag box in mine and it feeds perfectly.

I've built two 300WSMs on 700 short actions. I had to mill the feedrails back a bit to get them to feed. An action with a drop mag would be much easier since the feed lips are on the mag. I'd try that first.
Just a follow up on my 300 WSM.... I've got about 60 rounds thru mine and last week we checked our drops before heading out to Elk hunt in Colorado.
Mine shot under a 1/4" group at 100 yards with factory Winchester Accubond CT ammo in 180 grain, and at 200 yards shot a hair over 1/4" grouping.
I'll take that all day long.

With my build, I used a 300 win mag action and my magazine is an AICS 300 mag center feed magazine. The magazine is unmodified and has fed fine so far.

I know this is a bit of a dead post, but what velocities are you guys seeing with the 215-230 grain bullets loaded long in the 300 wsm long action? I have a SA and am considering a build but want to run ballistics first!
