Ideally I'd like to get 2800 fps out of my 75gr ELDM's. 2600 fps seems like a good spot for those 88 ELDM's. I can get 2820 fps with the 73gr ELDM's. But even at 2700 fps the 75gr beats them. At 2600 fps those 88gr ELDM's would be impressive.

The advantage is obvious if you can get some more velocity out of it. Modify the magwell and feedramp and it's possible to seat out even farther. 2.4XX" One guy had the 75gr running 2900 fps. He installed a adjustable gas block and different buffer/ spring if memory serves me right.

I do the same with a 20 round stainless steel mags, Works just fine with 75gr ELDM loaded to 2.360" COL.

Over on SH they had one guy single feed them. Another guy on YT nevada desert rat something or other single feeds them also out to 1200 yards.

I used TAC for my 75gr ELDM load so I kept it on the lower node at 2700 FPS. At 54 yards it didn't exit the badger on a head on shot. Bigger female, DRT.

I'd try them on a chuck, badger, or yote. I dumped a badger last weekend using a 75gr ELDM out of my AR15. DRT.

204 Ruger would be flatter shooting out to 500-maybe 600 yards? Or a 20 Practical if you're a handloader for easy, cheap brass. I lust after a 20 Practical or a fast twist .223. Maybe a .223 AI!

Since the FAL is gas piston I'd probably stick with either H4895 or maybe IMR4064. IMO Ideally I'd go with H4895 with 168gr pills. And don't push them hard since feeding them in an a semi-auto. Lower node accuracy loads and you'll do just fine. My 2 cents from the peanut gallery.

I switched over to 168 ELDM's over 43.5 gr IMR 4064. An old lot of powder that must have dried out over the last twenty years. That charge gets me 2820 fps! Glad I worked my way up.

I had AR10s but sold them off to get M1A's. I got rid of them and kept my FALs. They all work well depending on the build.

168gr SMK's and Nosler CC's have about the same bullet profile. Easy to tune and are accurate, at least in my rifle. 1120 yards in my PSS. My family bought me the PSS and a return gift when I returned from the Army in 1991. 308 Win has started a lot of people in the LR game.
