Keep in mind for decades many reloaders followed die instructions and screwed the die in til it touched the shellholder and resized to sammi specs - typically at least .008 or more. So its not OMG situation just not ideal.

I wouldn’t go that route - his dies don’t have a lot of beef for sizing web - I tried that route and the first die cracked and so did replacement.

I have dies that require .007 bump and as long as I anneal every time they are good for 7 or 8 firings. I've solved provlem by cutting top off a 2nd cheap die so I'm not bumping shoulder when bumping base. Two step process. I've also polished chamber with 1" wide 320 grit sandpaper in a...

Shawn should have load data to get you started. 88-93 gr H1000 cci 250 300 gr Berger or SMK for Lapua and edge should be close.

The most important item by far is making sure your scope bubble is level when cross hairs are.

Defensive edge makes a kit for leveling off chamber sides. I can usually find a flat spot on mag or stock or action - may have to lay a ruler across it.

Thank you thats a great explanation. If you set convergence for 1000 yards you could be off 1 to 2 inches at 100. Now if we are only talking 5 degrees then its about an .17 inch at 100.

Lets think about it - if the scope reticle is level - does it matter that the rifle is canted? Assume you had scope mounted 45 degrees to the side but rotated in rings so cross hairs were vertical. Rotate turrets 10 moa rifle barrel goes up 10 moa.

Do crosshairs come up level when you shoulder rifle? If not loosen rings slightly and twist scope until the bubble/crosshairs are level when you shoulder scope. Repeat. Scope to rifle level isn’t important - its a round barrel !
