    I have a Remington classic with a very nice wood stock. I purchased a hogue stock, for hunting and leave the wood stock for show.

    With belted mag case look for light colored melt at the belt. I had seen this with Federal cases.

    I could not find a Win 54 stock. Win 70 pre64 stocks do not fit. Different hole pattern . This reason I repaired the old stock

    I have Winchester MDL 54 in 270win. This gun has the factory stainless steel barrel. Winchester felt that nickel steel would not stand up to the 270 Win. I had to refinish the stock . I used tru oil and reppaired the dings and cracks with brown bedding compound

    The 30'06 has killed more than any of super magnums. That means humans and critters. The old horse is still on duty.
