My Elk Pic -- RMEF banner

I haven't been on this site for some time now, but just thought it was funny to come back and see an elk photo I took. All the RMEF ads and banners here are using a picture I took a while back. Didn't have any idea. I remember Bugle magazine contacting me about pics a year or two ago, and I...

Hi Chas. This was just a couple days in Yellowstone NP, which is just about 3 hrs away from where I live. Lots of wildlife there :D

Thanks for the kind comments everyone, sure appreciate it! :D I'm using a 1D Mark IV. Like you, I also shoot with the 300/2.8L-IS. Coupled with the 800mm, it's a fantastic wildlife combo. I used to use the 300/500 combo, but as you know the 300/2.8 makes an excellent 420/4 with the 1.4x...

    A few wildlife images

Hello everyone, been a while since I've visited. Just got back from a short weekend trip, and thought I'd share a few images. I tried to target a few smaller animals/birds to test out the new 800mm/5.6L. Hope you enjoy :D

Idea for Retumbo in 7mm SAUM. What do you think?

What's the barrel twist? If it's 1:9 or faster, just go straight to the 180 VLD's. I assume you're taking this rig well out past 1000yds, and the 180's ballistics are much superior at those distances.

Idea for Retumbo in 7mm SAUM. What do you think?

I spent a good deal of time experimenting with Retumbo in a longer bbl (28") 7wsm with the even heavier bullets - 180gr Berger VLD. I arrived at the conclusion that it did not work that well. It was consistent, but I could not push the velocity to the point I was looking for (3100fps +) and...

    A few Wyoming images

Thanks so much for all the comments! :D I'm sorry for the delayed response, I've been busy lately and away from the computer for the most part. I'm glad y'all are enjoying them. I got trips planned all summer, and hopefully I'll get some more worth checking out. Thanks again! Rob

RobK -- Yea, the cub actually made it's way right in between the sow and myself. She just looked up and noticed the cub was closer to *ME* then her!!! I didn't notice either since I was just jammed in my viewfinder ripping off images of the sow to the tune of 10 frames per second. It was a...
