There are a lot of different primer seaters that can achieve the same results as this one. I just happened to have an extra press I got from my wife’s grandfather recently and I liked how this tool operated as far as precision and easy of use. It will not ever need to be taken in or out of the...
Guys gotta remember too, yesterday I tested load at 600 and the wind was pushing the impacts 9-12 inches to the right. No amount of seating depth testing or fancy tool will account for not being able to shoot the wind
@FireFlyFishing At this time I am only planing on testing different depths of the primer on my benchrest rifle. So the gains I get may not be that significant to some. I am looking for that extra point or two for aggregate score
I like how it doesn’t take a lot of effort to seat primer. At this time I have not tested seating depth results on paper. It did hold +- .0005 depth for me tho. I tested some loads at 600 the other day, had the confidence knowing they were all close in depth. Next will be testing various seating...
@warrbuk i had some 205’s I was gonna try out and didn’t get around to it. Hade a buddy that wanted some of those for an up coming elk hunt he went in last year. At the time it was hard to get them, so being a friend I decided to sell them to him for his hunt. Haven’t looked lately on the 205...
Thanks for all this incoming info. I will start with a lot of this and work as load up in my rifle. Should be able to get it to perform how I need it to for the purpose.
Buddy of mine has the ugly reloading primer seater and he is planning to make an accessory/tool to hold his case against the case head in conjunction with this primer seater to help combat the normal effects of referencing off the front of the rim. In theory it will work.
I have one of these primer tools and it seems to be working pretty good.
Any referring to the question of a tool that doesn’t reference of the front of rim of the case I believe there is only two. One being that LEE and the other the witch doctor mentioned in a video I believe is an older model...
@MagnumManiac thank you for that info. That SAAMI spec measurement on throat length should allow for the 215 to be seated out where it should be to utilize the entire capacity of the case. Correct? Albeit single feeding in my case would be 100% required
@quandary yeah I already have the rifle trying to make the best with what I have like you were. I have things on the burner for another BR rig right now so not ready to just do like you did. Even tho I already know that’s what should be done
