Thanks for the replies. I'm considering switching to AB for deer. The BT is hard to beat on broadside shots but bone can be too much. Its funny how a BT in one caliber can be so different than the same in another.

Get a set of Lovett Williams' CDs. Use your phone or a digital recorder to record your calling to compare to those CDs. It also helps to have another person listen and tell you how you sound different.

I use and recommend the Allen Sound Sensors whenever possible. You can hear well enough to not miss anything while hunting.

If you're just going to skin animals, peel apples, etc. a Case Trapper is hard to beat for everything in one package. I skin almost all my deer with an $8 Opinel. Good steel and a that rounded off blade tip makes unzipping them very easy.

Looks like there are a few guys on here using 1885 Highwalls for medium to long range rigs. How about some pics and/or comments on setting one up? The scope base seems like a problem. An 1885 270 WSM 28" seems like a good idea out to 600 if you get a scope with adequate adjustment.

Nope. When I was bachin' it, all first dates included time spent on making my interests and travel requirement clear. Telling girls you'll be mostly and literally absent for about three weeks during turkey season weeds out the whinier ones.

Compared to a one piece front & rear mechanical rest, I have more consistent results with front and rear bags. A rabbit ear rear with a bulls bag is fairly economical and very steady. I use Protektor model and Uncle Bud's brands, but they are others. They don't sell bench rests and rear bags...

Nope. There's plenty of BP package guns out there with cheap scopes that hold zero fine. I've got a China Pentax on mine. When I'm dumb enough to put the whole 150 grains in there, it holds zero just like it does the rest of the time. The only time I've had a problem with recoil damaging a...
