    Lightweight Rifle Build

About 5 years ago I went down this road, researching all the components and talking with custom builders. I ended up selecting a Mesa Precision rifle, now known as Pure Precision. Their ti action, self made carbon fiber stocks with a perfect geometry for recoil management and fit for my frame...

A Million Dollar Opportunity!! Carbon Rings

We’ve used advances in machining capabilities to tune our custom rifles to extremely tight tolerances. In so doing, we’ve gotten very precise weapons. But, in that system carbon rings can create loss of precision and or consistency that wouldn’t have been noticeable in older factory rifles...

A Million Dollar Opportunity!! Carbon Rings

Put an earplug in the end of your barrel. Fill the barrel with C4. It only takes a couple ounces. Let soak overnight. Empty, then brush/clean. I reuse the c4 to soak muzzle brakes. That stuff works.

Brake for a mid 70s manufactured win mod 70 300 win mag.

My brother has a Win model 70 made in the mid/late 1970s with a standard barrel. It probably has less than 100 rounds through it because it is punishing to shoot it. It has been a good elk gun, and he'd like to put a brake on it and shoot it more to develop proficiency at longer ranges. The...

    Spain hunt

Just returned from an ibex hunt there yesterday. Took my rifle. I did use Travelwithguns.com for assistance on flights, and they will inform you what permits you need and what the process is, but then it's up to you to complete the process with the Spanish Consulate that has jurisdiction in...

    1176 yard bull

Great shot, and nice old bull! I took mine at 425 yards this year after a 45 minute stalk. If I had your set up and skill, I literally could have shot the same bull from my porch.

    Building AR for long range

JP Rifles probably makes among the most accurate gas guns available, and will customize orders. They also own and operate the Blue Steel Ranch where you can get great instruction in how to shoot gas carbines and rifles long range. I have a 223 upper from them and a 308 complete rifle which are...

    Pronghorn Tip Steak

These look great! Antelope is underappreciated. My brother and I each took an antelope last season in eastern CO. I took the backstraps and loins home right away and cooked them over the next week. They were excellent simply pan seared and oven finished, regardless what we cooked them with...

    Spartan Javelin Bipods

this issue was fixed a couple years back with the javelin "pro hunt bipod". This version locks open and has a spring loaded lever to quickly collapse it for storage. I've hunted with them now for several years - bought the original then upgraded to the pro hunt. I also have the sentinel...

CO - Gray Wolf Reintroduction eNews Edition

Also a resident. And not against wolves - they are natural and are returning in northern regions already anyway. However, your comment "our voters’ decision to mandate a scientific approach to wolves" is not correct. The voters' decision was to mandate the reintroduction of wolves. A...

target rifles for me and wife ?

One more vote for the 6 creed. I used a 6.5 creed for a season, then went to 6 creed. The roughly 40grain difference in bullet weight results in noticeably lower recoil. This really makes recoil management easier, and though it can be argued that we should work on better positions to...

    Pierce Ti Featherweight

incredibly light weight - should be great for a mountain rifle! Some other Ti action manufacturers seem to favor a steel bolt in Ti action, and explain this because Ti on Ti is more susceptible to galling. Some of their actions are also DLC coated. How do you feel about the potential for...
