Kaveman,
Yes, I've had Nat Lambeth do some work for me before on my Savage .243 12FV. Turnaround time was less than 1 week if I recall correctly, though he and I only work a couple of miles from one another for the same company (state govt.) and he met me after work. Excellent to work with...
I'm definitely not set on any caliber at this point. What I am set on is picking up a new Browning BLR in the next year or so - I just like the rifle and want one. Thus, trying to select a caliber for it.
I suffered a severe case of viral meningitis back in my college days that left my...
I agree 100%.
Thanks for the thoughtful responses, guys. I think I'll completely forego using the .223 for deer and step it up to at least .243.
I'm looking for a round that I can enjoy shooting at the range, working up loads and such and still hunt with. I already have a .270, but it...
Thanks for the responses, guys. At least here on this site I knew I would get some decent educated responses and I appreciate it.
Dave King,
I LOVE your normal distribution chart! I minored in statistics in college and can appreciate it fully. Perhaps there's some way to conduct an...
Would you hunt whitetail (southeastern) deer using .223 Remington and if you would, what load would you use?...max. range approx. 350 yds...most shots 200-300 yds..
I'm considering it, but don't want to be a dumba$$. Yes, it's legal in my state of residence.
For deer, I have used factory loaded Hornady 130 gr. SST. The bullet has performed outstanding on all shoulder/body shots and also outstanding on a marginal brisket shot on one deer - the bullet expanded fast enough and well enough that it tore open the chest cavity enough to give a clean kill.
Thanks for the responses, gentlemen.
Bounty Hunter,
I will have to go with the .223 vs. the .308 due to recoil issues for me. So you think I will be at least somewhat competive with the 75-80 gr. bullets and a 1:8 barrel twist?
I'm considering swapping my .243 Win. Savage barrel over to .223 - mainly for target shooting.
I've discovered that the barrel life of a .243 pretty much sucks.
Any opinions or discussion on long-range shooting (maybe F-class and even varmints out to 1,000) with the .223?

The 4.5-14 BM is the only thing i have found so far that tracks like a leupold and always returns to your 100 zero time and time again...

What exactly is a "BM"? Nikon Buckmaster, yes?
