At the beginning of a build.

Thank you for responding. I was hoping I would have a metal chassis option, being a machinist I have a love of metal. My current stock is a beautiful walnut, and I cringe to alter it, though my pocket book may force my hand to do so. The stock is super heavy. I hope to post pictures as my...

At the beginning of a build.

I am at the beginning of a build. I am a machinist an intend to chamber my own rifle, make my own brake etc.(Finally got permission to use company equipment to do so. :D ) I picked up a donor rifle from an auction which is a Sako AV, which happened to be re-barreled in 7mm STW already. Although...

    first elk, and first cougar

After arriving a little later than I would have liked on a nice piece of private property near a river in north west Alberta , I was looking to fill the freezer for my young family. I have to say that this is not a long range hunting story, but it is unique enough that I felt I should share...

first vs. second focal plane, could there be another option?

My understanding of rifle scopes is still pretty basic. I understand that if the rectical is mounted in the first focal plane it will either increase the size or decrease the size of the rectical as you adjust the magnification. This can be helpful if trying to range something without and...

    Reloaded round will not chamber...

(P.S. monster fonts look as though you are yelling ..... we are trying to help you.) Sorry about the font size, that's what I get for using a smart phone to reply.....or perhaps you are just a little case sensitive

    Reloaded round will not chamber...

I have used this set of dies flawlessly several years back. They have sat for a while without being used. I would say that there must have been a case lube build up somewhere, but there really wasn't anything visibly wrong with the brass. I suppose that it really wouldn't take much of a bulge...

    Reloaded round will not chamber...

So I purchased a new set of dies, from Lee this time. I resized the brass I had already run through the rcbs die (which was causing the issue) I could feel an odd resistance as the expander ball ran though the start of the case mouth. it was only at the start. The cases now chamber easily.

    Reloaded round will not chamber...

I may have said this already, but I have tried this round in both of my rifles with the same non chambering issue. I know it is not the rifle. I did appreciate all the tips though, I am sure they will come in handy on a future day....

    Reloaded round will not chamber...

thank you to everyone who shared some info. It is nice to be able to ask people with actual experience. I am still unable to figure out the issue, the full length sizer die seems to be the culprit.

    Reloaded round will not chamber...

I had full length resized the brass. The brass are once fired federals. I have tried to feed them in both of my .300's with the same result. I can actually see that the brass has been sized by the slight color change of the brass. I followed the instruction to touch the shell holder and then go...

    Reloaded round will not chamber...

I am loading for the .300 win mag, and am trying out the new LRX .175 gr. barnes solid copper bullet. I have just the generic two die RCBS full length die set. I was attempting to make a dummy round , so I could properly seat the bullet to the suggested .030-.070" off the lands. I attempted to...
