    Absolute Hammer load data

Thanks for the info. I have a CA 308 that’s been difficult to find a load that will shoot under 1.5” at 100 yards with conventional cup and core bullets. Some guys on rokslide told me to look into hammer hunters. Have you by chance used H4895 or IMR 4064? Looking for some starting charge loads...

    Two Distinct Velocity Groups Today...?

While I’ve seen great reviews on them, $380 seems excessive for a chrono.

    Two Distinct Velocity Groups Today...?

Thank you for the info, I should start doing my reloading it large batches. Just for my knowledge, how can factory ammo be consistent from year to year? For example, my rifle shoots Hornady whitetail 130 grain interlocks at 2770 +-30 FPS. I first got those results early this year (April) and I...

    Two Distinct Velocity Groups Today...?

Good point....my chrono is a basic Caldwell deluxe model that I don’t believe is 100% accurate but I believe it is consistent. powder is measured by dumping onto a scale by hand until I hit 58.3 grains. 58.2 and 58.4 is not good enough for me. Scale is calibrated with the supplied weight for...

    Two Distinct Velocity Groups Today...?

So after the cases sit for a few days does the neck tension stop “increasing”? For example, if I was shooting cases I loaded 4 days ago along with cases I loaded 4 month ago, I should see a similar velocity?

    Two Distinct Velocity Groups Today...?

Shot today at 300 and 400 yards. Both under MOA with a 5mph or so wind so I’m pretty pleased for this being a hunting rifle. But I got two different velocity groups today... I had 7 cases I loaded earlier today and those were around 3000 FPS +- 20 FPS. I also had 3 cases that I loaded 4 days...

    Elevation and FPS

Shot several accurate loads out of my gun today. The 150 grainers were around 2840 while the 130s were at about 2950. This test was done at approx 4700 feet of elevation. Most of my hunting will take place in the 6000-9000 elevation. Is there a faromula I can use to figure out my muzzle...

Tell me about Winchester Power Points

I only covered 2 grains from 55 to 57 with those 5 groups so maybe I haven’t loaded it hot enough yet to find that sweet spot

Tell me about Winchester Power Points

For the ballistic tips, I was using 4831 SC. Do you think the gun just prefers 150s vs 130s? Not necessarily the PowerPoint bullets, just any 150s?

Tell me about Winchester Power Points

Ended up picking up a 270 win Browning xbolt western hunter for $625 because my buddy passed on it and I couldn’t pass up that deal. I picked up all the reloading stuff needed including some nosler ballistic tip 130s and some H4831SC. I also picked up one box of the cheapest factory ammo I...

    Nosler Ballistic Tip Jump

Lol that’s funny. I’m new ish to reloading and loading to the book puts me about .060” off the lands so I think I’ll just give it a try there because I want to use the BTs for hunting. Have you every tried loading a bullet like the Hornady Interlock (soft lead tip)? Im guessing they are not...

    Nosler Ballistic Tip Jump

Hello all, I know certain guns seem to like different bullet jumps but what have you all experienced as a general rule of thumb for jump to lands for bullet like the Nosler Ballistic tip? Personally I found accuracy around the .030” jump range

    Hotrod-ed 6.5 Creed Vs Slow 270 win

I agree! But he’s bought and sold a lot of rifles in the last few years because he didn’t fully think through his decisions lol
