    The PRC die "problem"

No good deed seems to go unpunished these days. Good will and charity branded as self serving profiteering. Entitlement of others to such a extent as to expect and go so far as to demand service at no cost and in fact on the others dime. All topped with a dose of unrepentant ignorance. With...

    284win help

My recommendations: * Barrel: 1:8.5 Twist (Large buffer to std 300k RPM limit. Largest option for bullet choices trad and mono.) * Chamber Reamer: Freebore + 1°3' (Freebore length to allow longest body bullet to seat above shoulder junc (doughnut zone) with a bit of extra to length allow for...

Try doing a through cleaning of the inside of the die body. Finish with brake cleaner to fully degrease and flush it out. Then try a lightly lubed case and see if it feels smoother. If you had a bore scope you coukd visually inspect the inside of the die in case if rough surface/chatter marks.

My ultralight timber stick - building a 4 lb rifle

For a timber gun (under 300 yd) setup is there really any need for a FFP scope? Or one over 10x power? I would want a scope that was durable and had good glass , good min low power. Not necessarily "great" glass. I save that for my long range scopes. For durability and reliability, I am...

My ultralight timber stick - building a 4 lb rifle

I think out of those, for your planned target range, I would choose the 308. It's been chambered in more 16-18" barrels from AR10 M1 FALs HKs FN etc and bolt guns than any other .473 base cartridge . The larger bore to powder ratio will have the least decrease in performance at shorter barrel...

My ultralight timber stick - building a 4 lb rifle

It gets very detailed and specific when you try to drop below 7lb RTH. Cody, Have you narrowed down to what cartridges you are still considering?

Yep if it rips thru that main portal vein trunk at the liver, BP will drop like a rock in just a couple seconds and whatever will face plant. Elk Bear Human makes no difference. It contains the blood supply from the entire stomach, intestines, pancreas, and spleen. It's a HUGE blood vessel...

Clean your die out with brake cleaner and a wire brush and patches. Put only very light coat of lube on the case. Try again. You can always use a carbide drill bit and if you have a drill press drill a vent hole in the die if you want. But if you use light coating and clean the die ever so...

I assume at that profile it will be CM 4140 steel for barrel instead of 416R. If a choice I would definitely choose CM. I definitely agree on Skele-Ti SA That's about as light as your ever going to get for a SA. I am looking at one as well. As you are keeping shots shorter range and not...

    Caliber Of Choice

As @Fiftydriver asked what is your idea of long range shooting both for the target shooting you have stated you plan to do a lot of as well as the longer ranges you want to take game at? That man's focus is long range hunting. Take a look at his site Allen Precision Shooting look at the...

How much trouble getting this to feed?

You could also rechamber to a short mag 6.5 and still use your current barrel. Save you a barrel depending on its profile. Cut off the threads and rechamber. Something like a 6.5 Sherman Max would be idle. Yes the 7 prc will work in a mag setup for the 26 nosler but it might need a slight...
