Entropy, I highly recommend Denny Powell, Powell Custom Rifles in Ruidoso, NM. I have a couple of his builds and they’re all shooters. He does all of the work himself and he is meticulous.

LOL, yeah there are a few places thru there that will test your vehicle and brakes, especially when hauling. Best of luck! I won't be up there hunting this year so I won't be taking any camping spots. Sure wish you the best of luck. There are some nice big bulls in there.

My 250 likes the 55gr stuff, I have never loaded the 53gr but was told to try it next time I load. The 40gr stuff gets to tumbling sometimes for me so I stay away from loading them. I am probably just pushing them too hard.

Ok, did you mean the 280? Because the 260 is basically a 308 necked down to 6.5 therefore, for distance the 6.5-06 should be a whole lot better for long range. They are both great calibers just the 6.5-06 has not taken off like the 260 (6.5-08).

My loads with 4831 were better than my H414 loads. I am using the 55 gr ballistic tips.

I would agree with anything from 3-9 to 4.5-14. Burris makes a very good 4.5-14 with ballistic reticle, Leupold, Nikon and many other manufacturers make comperable scopes. I like the 4.5-14. I have not used a Minox scope but their binos are good. Yes, 2.5 would work but I really do not think...

Stick with 25-06 or buy another 270 or even a 30-06. I noticed that our Wal-Mart has more 7mm Mag ammo than 270, 30-06, 243, 308, 300 WM or any other large caliber. I was pretty surprised at that. I would pick a caliber and then buy a few boxes or even a case online, if you cannot find it...
