what about barrel life with the ackley?

what will the ackley gain me over the standard 25-06? can I buy pre-formed brass or will i need to fire form it?

The 270 and 280 have both crossed my mind. I am however,leaning more in the direction of the 25-06 because of the lighter weight bullets available.

Does it work well in a LA? Using remington DM, any feeding issues?

the rifle currently has a 22" barrel (30-06) and handles superbly. I am however going with a heavier barrel and maybe 20" would balance out better. What will I loose with the 270 going with a shorter barrel? I havent completely ruled out 24" if it will give me a lot of improvement.
