Len, were the big horn off trail ridge road or on one of the trails you hiked? I'll be up there in a couple weeks and might have to check some of these out.

I have a T3 in a Bell & Carlson in 338 win mag using the Warne direct mount rings and have not experienced any of those issues. Nothing but great accuracy.

    325 wsm?

Nothing wrong with a 325 wsm, however when I looked into one I found there is noting it will do that the 300 wsm won't do as well if not better. I say that based on available bullet selection for 30 cal vs. 325/8 mm.

    Wichita Arms???

They were big in the silhouette pistol market and they made a hell of a rifle as well about thirty years ago. They had some really nice looking smooth operating stuff and tried to make it in the production rifle business but for the times they were way expensive and had a very limited...

    Anybody from Kansas on here?

They don't get much better shotgun wise than Jim Greenwood at Murphy's but seriously expensive and unless you hound him you will wait a long long time. Gander doesn't even do any smithing anymore and for good reason. There used to be a few good old machinist that could do good work here but I...

    Anybody from Kansas on here?

I have never heard of Emma Creek Gunworks but Wichita has a great lack for a good gunsmith. There is nobody in Wichita I would trust unfortunately.

    Confused with 300 WSM loads

as reference my 300wsm load is win brass, 168 tsx, 65 grain rl17, federal gold medal match lg rifle mag primers, 2.92 coal, 3100 fps. this is a sub moa in my win mod 70 stainless and while load development I started getting slightly stiff at 65.5 grains and stiffer yet at 66 grains and only a 50...

    270 wsm load???

I too am getting right at 3300 fps using RL17 and 129 grain Barnes LRX's in my Winchester model 70 fwt. I just finished the development of this load and it has proved very accurate so far. I had just switched from 130 grain tsx's using RL17 and that load was quite good but wanted to go try...

    300 WSM Nosler Brass

I have been using Win brass in 300 wsm for the last nine years and can not complain about the results. I suspect you are seeing something else but what is your load? Have you run it on Quickload? Pressure signs can be deceiving but how do the primers look? Are you experiencing stiff bolt lift...

Barnes tipped TSX 168 or 180 gr. for elk?

I have been using the 168tsx since 2004 in my 300 wsm. I have taken Elk, bear, mule deer, whitetail, and pronghorn. On elk it has always performed very very well with great penetration but I have never tried to anchor an elk with it through the shoulder blades. I have several spent bullets...
