My 280 Ack. wants to be a 7mm Mag. But it only shoots 140-150g bullets well. After that, the groups aren't so good. I'm wondering if I'll gain anything other than factory brass. If There's only 1 sweet stot for my barrel and it's where it is, and there isn't another one, I'm SOL>

Thanks guys, I couldn't see how it could be harder on the barrel with less powder and the same caliber.

I was talking to a smith, he said the WSM's Will probably wear out barrels faster than the regular mags. He makes and sells both. Is he right as far as you can tell?

Is any one speed or range of speeds better for long range accuracy than another? I've heard rumors, but I'd like someone with 1000 yard matches to tell me the facts.

I THINK I found it! The back action screw seemed tight to a normal screwdriver, but when I put the T extension on it, I got a 1/4 turn. Now My groups are3/4" horizontally. Not Too bad with about a 35mph wind at 15-20 degrees.

If Remington would like a winner, they should do a 25. The 25WSSM is unimpressive, the 25WSM would have been an immediate hit, but they didn't go there. If Rem did a 25saum it would be well recieved.

So, it looks like an IOR with the mil and 1/2mil marks would be the best for what I want. I can think before I hunt and make a cheat sheet and tape on the side of my rifle for the hunt.

Rookie question- What is an IOR scope?

A smith told me to turn the scope 90 degrees and see if the groups turn also. That will be my next test.

I'm not really sure which shot it is. It was just a nice day and I grabbed and ran.Not many 35 degree days with no wind this time of year in South Dakota. I'm thinking its the first. The fouling group was not as pronounced a vertical spread, but more of a horizontal spread between the top 2 shots.

Will a 7mm mag clean up a 280imp chamber? could I just re-chamber(get rid of the 280imp) and then try the pressure bedding?
