In 1977 I had the opportunity to purchase a Colt Lightning owned by Annie Oakley. It was a nickel plated one with dark wood, a smooth bore in 44-40. I thought if it would have been rifled that I would buy it for $500.
Because every time they bring out a new cartridge they make sure some company is going to produce guns in their new caliber.
I think most agree the 300WSM is a winner in a longer action so maybe more brass manufacturers would produce more for hand loaders who buy components from companies like...
I love the 300wsm with 175 grain or 180 grain hunting bullets. I will reload if I have to but will hunt with this caliber until I can't.
He'll I said the same thing about the 45-70 back in the early 1970's and I probably shoot more long range targets with it than any other gun I own. Just fun to...
I think the term for most of us is re-check our zero.
For most of my hunting career every year when the check is done the point of impact has not changed. Occasionally while hunting I have dropped my rifle and needed to fire a few rounds to confirm POI and it has usually been just fine. I...
I used to do that with H4831 and 180 grain Grand Slams in my 30-06 Remington 700. It was always 1 moa groups. I shot it like that for 20 years until the barrel shot out.
We wish that there were more ranges that would be considered long range in Canada. Most ranges in our area have been made shorter to accommodate more shooters per session. We are envious of all you people who have ranges of 500 yards never mind mountain top to mountain top.
I only get one kick at connecting with my targeted game therefore I want maximum performance down wind on the connecting end. Can't go wrong with 7mm or .308 caliber if you don't mind the recoil. Yes a .222 Rem. will kill just about anything 'if' I have the right set up. That is rare for me.
