Anyone know the status of Wildcat Bullets?

Back when Clint Starke was the owner he was making some of the best flat-based groundhog bullets. He called them "Red Prairie" bullets. Worked great in a 22-250, 222 and even my 308. I need more. The new owners of WB haven't changed their home page in years and am wondering if those...

    Questions about Ballistic FTE

Thanks for the replies. Is FTE useless then? Am I understanding correctly that FTE does not average the BC of a bullet as it loses velocity? That book looks like a great resource and will purchase one sometime down the road. Unfortunately, around here I don't have a place to shoot and get my...

    Questions about Ballistic FTE

Just started running it on an iPhone 3G and its pretty slick. Especially the ability to take atmospheric conditions at the time of your "Zero" and then reset the calculations to match the current atmospheric conditions. Am trying to figure out how to use the drag model functions. If I have a...

Looking for new G'hog territory in Pa.

I'm located in western Berks and the prime hunting spots are dwindling. I hunt with a friend and we're looking for some areas to shoot long (and short). If you care to share a spot or two, we don't kill them all and leave some for next year. thanks, Allen

Looking for rimfire gong-type target info

Got a Ruger Mk3 Hunter last year and am getting tired of shooting shotgun hulls and paper with it. Figured I'd put my plasma cutter to use and make some spinner targets and some small animal targets. For rimfire only, would 1/4" mild steel be sufficient or should I jump up to 5/16"?

MARK 4 2nd Focal Plane range estimation.

Hi 5r milspec, welcome to the forum. You want to confirm that 14x is the setting to use when ranging. 10 Mils covers 36" at 100 yards. I checked my Leupold mildot scopes this way: Set up a 36" tall piece of paper at 100 yards. Put your rifle in a sturdy rest and set scope on a low...

    Looking for some Hornady .224 55gr SPSX's

Been trying to locate a couple of boxes of the Hornady 55gr SPSX #2260. Hornady Manufacturing Company :: Bullets :: Rifle :: Choose by Caliber :: .224 22 CAL :: 22 Cal .224 55gr SP SX™ Have called my local gunshops and checked the Web. Found one box. Must have been the last one in the US...

Do you reload at the Range?

Wouldn't reloading the same 5 pieces or so of pre-selected brass help to find a good load?

Do you reload at the Range?

Was wondering how many other folks do this? A friend recently brought his progressive press to the Range. We were reloading 45acp as soon as we could make empty brass. :D It worked very well and am considering it for rifle reloading with a rockchucker. All the down time spent waiting for the...

    Slightly different "Which Scope" question.

Thanks everyone for the input. I'm using Cabela's points to get a scope so that means Leupold unless a Nightforce can be special ordered. Already have a carbine and a 12ga for the home. While groundhog hunting I often carry two varmint rifles for close and far so weight isn't an issue...

    Slightly different "Which Scope" question.

Thanks. I've also got a 6.5-20x on a 22-250 for groundhogs. It works well but sometimes wish it would go down below 6.5x. The AR isn't a carbine though and I agree about a long scope on a short gun. It has a 24" barrel so everything should balance out. Allen.

    Slightly different "Which Scope" question.

Hi Lewis, thanks for responding. Its a Rock River Arms AR15. Rock River Arms: Varmint Rifle A4 Groundhogs or parts of one get small at distance so I wasn't sure which scope to put on each rifle. May end up with another 4.5-14x for the AR15. I've got a 6.5-20x on my 243 VLP and like it very...
