    Long Range Hunting Gun Weight

If carry a pack and then a gun slung on the sholder I usually wind up having the bi-pod getting stuck on the sholder strap of the pack all the time and it then becomes a huge pain. Like I said before...if I use a pack I put the gun in the pack or strap it to it somehow. If not I hunt with...

To wind meter or not to wind meter?

Like what has been said in posts before me, it is the wind at station that matters the most. If you think about it logically, it makes sence. If you shoot and immediately your bullet is pushed 2 degrees off, when it gets to 1000 yards, how many degrees off is it now? The same principal is...

    Long Range Hunting Gun Weight

For the ranges mentioned at the first I would be looking somewhere in the 13-15 pound range. Heavier if at all possible, but I realize that this is a gun that you may wind up hefting around all day. There are ways to eliminate the carrying weight of the gun but for the average hunter I would...

    Is the Remington PSS accurate?

I was wrong in my oringonal post. The PSS stands for Back when this model was named, it was intended solely for sales to LEOs, it was named the Police Sharp Shooter (no major gun company would be so naive as to name their gun a "sniper" rifle). Later, as normal folks started to get ahold of...

How much wind, is to much?

I agree with what some have said on here already. If it is a steady wind, to me it doesnt matter what the ammount is as long as it is steady and measureable. Also it would be nice if it were all consistant in direction as well. If you shoot in 100 mph wind, even gusting, head on, it will not...

    Is the Remington PSS accurate?

The PSS in remington PSS stands for Police Swat Sniper. I own two, the .308 and the 7mm rem mag. They both are excellent shooters. The remington 7 mag is my go to gun for almost all shots up to and including 100 yds. It works very well with the seria boat tails, I love the 168 gr. berger in...

    100yd or 200yd zero?

ICANHITHIMMAN, Thanks for the reply. I have never thought about that. I always just used the info gathered from the chrony and then the group size at 100 and then seen how it preformed at longer ranges. It is definately something to consider, especially with some of the VLD type...

    100yd or 200yd zero?

When you look through the scope, does it make what you are looking at closer, or farhter away? :D sorry, I couldnt help it? ICANHITHIMMAN Why the load testing at 200 yds? I have always done mine at 100 with a chronograph and they have all worked out to be great long range shooters...

    100yd or 200yd zero?

That is very disturbing........something is fundamentially wrong if that is the case. Shooting 8 inches high and 4 inches to the right and your scope is out of adjustments? The groop looks good but that is very concerning. Question: Why load testing at 200 yards? I have always done...

What Hand Gun do you use for Personal Protection??

I always carry a glock 19 9mm. I will never leave the house without it. I cant beleive that there isnt more people that carry glocks. If your life depends on it, I would never take a chance of having some sort of failure due tothe weapon not being cleaned well enough after the last time you...

    Rem 700P takeoff stock worth???

This stock is an HS precision stock with the aluminum bedding blocks. It should be around 250 or so if you can find a buyer. In my opinion it is a good stock, why not consider using it or at least keeping it for another build? Just my opinion though.

Berger seating depth test results - what do you think?

From largest to smallest in logical order. Be sure to get the barrel up to foul & stable temps before testing. Time your shot rate and avoid transitions/changes that invalidate your testing. +1 What Mikecr said. This is the best method that I have found as well. Have tried different ways...

Berger seating depth test results - what do you think?

I guess I should have been more clear. What I meant when i said that I use it on every bullet to get the right seating depth on each bullet was that I back off the bullet seater and then walk in every bullet to the exact seating depth and measuring inbetween and then making small adjustments...
