Just buy a Weatherby backcountry in 6.5 Creedmoor (factory ammo is super accurate) or even 338 RPM (if you want ammo to be hard to find). Save weight in other gear and stop trying to cut ounces off an already light rifle. It’s too expensive to make sense when you’re already under seven lbs.
Peak44 is making stocks for Tikka rifles now. They make the stocks for the Weatherby Backcountry rifles. I just ordered one for my LH Tikka. I have one on a custom 700 and it’s awesome. Only weighs 19 oz but it’s not cheap.
I will never understand why so many people recommend a cup and core bullet for elk. Sure they shoot tiny groups but there are much tougher bullets that shoot very accurate also. Maybe 1/2 larger group but I had rather have the tough bullet if I have a choice. Maybe Berger bullets have killed...
