    270win loads

Several people have mentioned that IMR 7977 might get them some added velocity. By the book, it looks good. But I could never get enough in the case to get those results (60ish grains was all I could muster). Good accuracy, on par with H4831SC, just not the velocity I had hoped for. Going to...

    Hornady Interlock: A Classic Performer?

I started using Hornady Interlocs when I started hand loading in 1980. Money was tight and I found them to be quite good for my needs. I’m still shooting them today in .224, 270, 308, 338 and 45/70 because they just plain work. I’ve tried a lot of the others, and like them, but I always have...

    1176 yard bull

Hard to argue with success. With me being a mechanic at heart… if it’s not broken, don’t fix it. It’s really awesome to hear (and see) from guys that are out there walking the walk. Seeing the results inspires me to improve my own shooting skills…. Although I would be happy to succeed at half...

    Any ideas?

Looks like a dry fire strike on the empty case. Might try to duplicate it by dry firing a different case and compare.

    Accurate 308 speeds

I’ve been using AA2460 for years and get great results with CCI 200 primers in LC brass. 41.1 to 41.5 gr. (Depending on the lot year of cases) gives me just under 2600 fps from 2 different M1A’s. I use Nosler 165 and 168 gr. Ballistic Tips (I see little difference between bullets in my...

    Never Forget

Amen. NEVER EVER FORGET. The sacrifices made by people on that day, and in the years since, for this county, its citizens, and anyone else on Earth who believes in freedom, deserve no less.

    Favorite deer rifle

Hands down my favorite deer rig is my left hand Classic Stainless M70 in 270 Win. It’s had a 3X9 Leupold on it since right after I got it in 1997. It shoots under moa and does it with most any bullet I feed it. Hoping to work up a load it likes with some 150gr. Nosler Partitions and the RL26 I...

    Help With Bullet choice ...

PM sent. Just lying around here collecting dust. I don’t use them and could send them if this is enough to get you through

Another Weather Front-What is a derecho?

Google Cedar Rapids derecho August 2020. It’s basically a straight line tornado that lasted for more than 40 minutes. It literally went thru my Mom’s condo and destroyed it (she was safe in the bathroom). Nearly the whole town was TRASHED.

Suggestions for a good elk hunting boot

Kenetrek mountain extreme. I bought 3 different high end boots for my wife and I and tried them out. Kenetrek, we both agreed, we’re the most comfortable. I was actually hoping a different brand would win due to the price. But they are worth it and are, by far, the best boot I have ever owned...

    Recoil management-poor shooting

My first heavy recoiling rifle (an 8lb. 338 Win Mag) was a big step up in recoil from previous rifles I had owned. It took me 7 trips to the range to get it dialed in. I stopped shooting it as soon as I felt the flinching starting. First few trips were only a couple of shots each. Now it is no...

    Reloading for the average hunter

    I read somewhere that’s where H380 got it’s name...from using 38.0 grains with a 50-53 grain bullet.

    It's a beer kinda of night ...

Every year when the wife and I go to our cabin near Thompson Falls, I have to get some. It’s my favorite. I don’t drink a lot of beer, but I always like to keep some in my fridge. Love that Cold Smoke.

    270 Bullet Poll

I voted “other” only because if I had only one bullet, it would be the Partition. If I couldn’t get it to shoot (which has happened), my next choice would be Accubond.
