    legal longest barrel on pistal

Thanks guys, and I do not have anything against a 14 inch tube, just a little extra bbl lench will ad some FPS, I do not want to use a bigger case to get Velicity, but more bbl length.. as I do not want the scope to black my eye.. I'm not using the weak power handgun scopes either, they are...

    .25-06 VS .243

I own a 25-06 in a Ruger MkII Varmit, it shoots the 85 Nosler BT's at up to 3700 fps, but is not very accurate bast 3400 fps. I use the Berger 115 VLD's at 3200 fps, and can get avg less than an unch at 200 yards if I let the bbl cool 3-4 minutes between shots, about 1 moa if I don't let it...

    legal longest barrel on pistal

I have been trying to figure out "fi" there is a maximum legal barrel length for a pistal.. The gunsmith at Gander Mountain said it was 15 inchess. another guy said 16 inches, another said 14 inches. I know that Thomson Center used to sell a super 16 that was 16.25 inches... I know that...

A little Google Earth picture test - what is the pic of???

`Earth Google is neat, since my Range finder puked out on me, I started t google map my hunting locations, and messure out a map at distances... Say if I am hiding in a tree rom, and a coyote is close by a tree or fence, I know how far he is, the range finder might overshoots and give false...

    224 Allen Magnum testing finished............

Kirby, How does the two rounds compare in case capacity, the 338 Lapua vs the 7mm Rum?? Have you had any luck using slow burning stick powders in the 270 AM or the 277? Those .277 cal 195 ULD's sound impressive, wander how fast you can drive em, 3100 fps maybe. Scott

    Opti-logic rangefinder review

I bought a new Opti-logic 800XT at a gun show a few years back, about $100-$130 less than the Leica 1200 at the time, the guy selling them also sold the 1200 Lieca's, but claimed the Opti-ligic's where better ranging on animals. It seemed to work good, ranged trees to 700-800 yards, and...

    temperature to velocity variation input

Thank you Roy.. That is one result I was looking for, 130 fps dif from 30 to 75 deg.. I would now like to know what ball powders will do under the same loadings or a simular round. are we talking 200 to 300 fps or maybe up to 500 fps differance with ball powders or what? thanks scott

    temperature to velocity variation input

Anyone have any info on temperature variation with different powders.. Example, a 243, 6mm, 257, 25-06, 270,7mm 30-06, 300's etc using Re-19-22-25 or IMR-4831 4350 etc from a cold 20-25 deg day (what vel do you get?), on up to 60-70 deg (what vel do you get now). I have not done enough...

    224 Allen Magnum testing finished............

Just a thought, why not use the same 7mmRum case with the 257 and 6.5mm AM as you do with the 277 AM, and keep the shoulder angle on par with say a 06 case, would not this help powder bridging, and keep the case capacity down somewhat. and be able to use either ball or stick powders. I...

    25-06 Ackley Imp?

I Think That he could get that verlocity from a very hot loaded 25-06, my 25-06 with 26 inhc tube gets 3200 fps plus from 115 VLD's and Re-22, and that is not a max velocity load,,, I have thrown 85's at 3700 with no pressure signs using H-4831.. Reloader 22 and 25 works like magic in the...

    6mm advice

Sounds like a nice rig Windcat, I'm not sure about when I'll be ready for one just yet. From what I hear, you are right, the tipped bullets do have more expansion than the bergers, even at much slower velocity... I am not sure how this yields on coyote sized game, but I think prarrie dogs...

    6mm advice

Oh yeah, by 600 yards, the 87 Vmax will totally outclaass the 75 V-max... Remember, muzzle velocity means nothing for the most part, no animal on earth is going to be shot at 0 yards.. at least most of the time. the 75's might beat out the 87's at the muzzle by 150-200 fps, but by 200...

    Leupold VXL 6.5-20 x 56

seems like it would be a okay scope, only problem with the Lup 56mm is the low profile bell notch will limmit some light gathring, and no sun shades,,,, sun shades are pretty important for coyote hunting, they notice leans flare.. I always wished Leupold would make a large 56mm objective, and...

    6mm advice

I am thinking of having a 6mm284 built as well... the 75 grain V-max does not have a bc of .400, more like .330.. the bullet your thinking of is the 87 grain V-max, it has a Bc of .400, the highest of all V-max bullets... better than the Crap .257 v-max 75 grain bullet with a BC of .280...
