    Blast from the past

A "blast from the past" regarding common courtesy and manners... My son is a law enforcement officer in a fairly large city in Central Wisconsin. About 7-8 years ago Jim Shockey was in town to meet with his publicist, who lives there... While here, he conducted a (free) seminar at the local...

    Blast from the past

I was able to refinish gunstocks in my Freshman Shop Class. One time the old "Hunters Lodge" WWII surplus dealer had an ad for German surplus Lugers with a big discount if you ordered three. The shop teacher wanted one and asked a few students if they were interested.....after talking to me, he...

Joined the 1 mile club yesterday!

My then 13 yr old grandson...No shooting course, just some very good help from his dad and a couple of his long range shooting buddies (always willing to help young shooters)! 338 Lapua his dad built on a Savage 110 action.

    Reloading gloves?!

I should have also mentioned that I do this over a plastic dish washing tub that sits in my lap (collects all of the brass shavings). I only use the glove on the hand that is handling the brass (right hand). I don't waste the other glove, because my son is left handed 👍.

    Reloading gloves?!

I use the exact same Harbor Freight gloves that Len uses... https://www.harborfreight.com/safety/gloves/touchscreen-hi-vis-polyurethane-coated-work-gloves-medium-64474.html Saves a lot of wear and tear on my hands when I am sitting in front of the TV and reaming primer pockets, flash holes and...

A Million Dollar Opportunity!! Carbon Rings

Forming " Improved" cases from the basic "parent" cartridge case usually leaves a shorter "improved" case. Wouldn't this by logic, cause a carbon ring in any (Ackley) Improved chamber??? Just asking.?????

    6.5x284 close range shot

I too have had similar experiences. My son, grandson and I have shot quite a few antelope and deer with the 6.5 cal 143 ELD-X. Its still a go to bullet for us. Bottom line is you can't expect ANY bullet that is pushing 3000 fps to perform the sam at 25 yds as it will at 250+ yds......Hope that...

    seniors with shaking hands

"jpndave"....Just an outstanding post!...great pictures and vivid descriptions from a guy who has obviously "been there and done that". I have arrived at some of those same conclusions. All I would add is PRACTICE the set-up. Changeing tripod angles and heights and adjusting the head takes some...
