    6.5X47 Lapua for Hunting

Gentlemen, Does anyone have an opinion about the 6.5X47 Lapua as a hunting cartridge? It appears to be a great long range cartridge, but how would it perform in a hunting scenario? I think it would be fine for antelope, deer and coyotes but what about elk or bear? Thanks, RD

Bore Cleaning Basics By Matthew Cameron

Re: Butch's Bore Shine? Thanks Boss, When I first used Butch's Bore Shine, I had already been shooting my rifle, a Remington Sendero in .270Win, for a while. That first time, it took me more than 50 patches soaked with 'Shine before there was no more blue. After that it wasn't nearly as...

Bore Cleaning Basics By Matthew Cameron

Re: Butch's Bore Shine? Gentlemen, Are there any opinions on Butch's Bore Shine? I seem to get good results with it, but a respected local gunsmith is against it's use as it's supposed to be abrasive. It certainly does clean out the copper fouling fast and so I never leave it in the...

    H-S Precision Rifles

Gentlemen; Does anyone have an opinion on H-S Precision rifles? I would like to get the Varmint Rifle in 7 mm Remington Magnum. They're nice rifles but a bit on the pricey side. The people I've talked to love them, but I was wondering if anybody else had an opinion. Cheers, RD

    Building a Rifle

Hi Guys, This may be a stupid question, but a few years ago I remember reading an article by Jim Carmichael of Outdoor Life on taking an old mauser (or other) action and building a rifle. I would most likely buy a Lilja or Shilen barrel with a varmint contour and have the headspacing done by a...

    Accuracy Problem

Thanks UncleB, The scope I have is a Leupold Vari-X III, 4.5->14X40. I did check the scope and it appears to be tight, i.e. not loose to the touch or anything like that. To clean my rifle, I use a combination of Bronze brush, bronze cleaning jag and Kleen-Bore's No. 10 Copper Cutter...

    Accuracy Problem

Hi Guys, I was wondering if anybody might be able to help me? I have a Remington Sendero in .270Win and this year for some reason I can't get groups smaller than 6 inches at 100 yards. A friend who is ex-Army has suggested that I'm cleaning my rifle too much and that I should have a couple of...

    Getting Started in Reloading

Gentlemen; Thanks for the replies. I should have mentioned that I shoot a .270Win Remington Sendero and while I do get good groups with factory ammo,i.e. in the 1/2" to 1/4" @ 100yds, I would like to a) reduce the cost of shooting and b) get even better groups. Cheers, Rubber Ducky p.s...

    Getting Started in Reloading

Hi Guys, I was wondering if anybody could tell me the difference between the various die manufacturers? Is it worthwhile to get carbide dies or should I just get ordinary dies to start with? Is there a difference between Lee, RCBS, Redding or Lyman. I would like to get started with good...

    Remington sendero

Hi Guys, I managed to purchase a Sendero in .270Win. It was on sale and the shop was trying to get rid of it. I don't yet reload but I've been getting 1/4 inch groups (100 yards) with factory ammo. I use my rifle primarily for deer, both mulies and whitetail and while it is a bit heavy to...
