6.5x284 RL26 and 140's Anyone tried this combo?

I have a #3 contour @ 26" and 57gr just started to show a little stiffness on opening, primer pockets still snug. 56, 56.5 57 all shot sub 3/4" with no tuning. I don't know what your chamber or freebore is so start at 54 and work up. As for temp stability, how extreme are your conditions? I...

6.5x284 RL26 and 140's Anyone tried this combo?

I loaded mine with 140 Berger VLD @ 3.145 (touch), lapua brass, CCI250 starting at 55 gr. and worked up to 57.0 at 3120 from a 26" Bartlein. I settled on 56.5 for just shy of 3100fps. No signs of primer issues or hard bolt lift for what it's worth, YMMV

    Alliant 2000MR 308 load data

I loaded it in Lapua brass, CCI BR2 primers, 175 Berger OTM wit a charge weight of 47.4gr (Max in Alliant data is 47.7, so approach from below) I was getting 2740fps in a 24" tube and excellent groups. Does not clean up as good as Varget, but that was after about 60 rounds in a match. Good luck...

    PTG Bolt

Call Dave Kiff at PTG and get the bolt and all related hardware, then send to Dans40X for welding. Even with shipping it will take less than 2 weeks. His work is flawless, give him a call and he will explain how to measure your action to give you correct timing. Good luck. Randy

    Which barrel for 338 edge...?

I have built several with the Rock 9.4 twist barrels, in addition to 338 Norma Mags, and have never had a bad one. They shoot fast and clean easy and will outlast a Hart IMHO. Order now or get hold of Cutrifle to see if he can help you out. For a real treat give them a call and talk to Mike...

    Building a 338 norma

For all the effort you will put into this, I think you would be well served to add a new stock to the build. To start you will need to get a PTG bolt with a M16 style extractor.Dan40x can weld on the bolt handle. Next blueprint the action and open up the rails to let that case through. I would...

    Sako barrel threads

If this is an L61R or an AV it is a 1.045 X16 TPI, the difference between them is the rear tang is longer on the AV. The small and medium actions use 1.00X16 on the medium and I am not familiar with the small L461 action.

need some info on new Barrel buy

Derek, I have used many Rock barrels and have yet to be disapointed. The 1-11 is my choice and the fluted Sendero is nice for a light(10-11lb) rig or a fluted M24 if you want a heavier tube. Shawn Carlock' DE brakes work well as do the Muscle Brakes though for a more sporter style I like the...

    SOLD/EXPIRED WTS/WTT 257 Krieger Stainless #4 Contour

I have a Lothar Walter 2100 contour (.700 muzzle @ 26") like a #5 ss 1-9" twist. I also have a reamer for the 22/6xc which can be used for the 22x47 by using a Lapua headspace gage.

Hang fires, Jewel trigger of firing pin???

The cleaning and lube advise is spot on, but the two things you should check are the trigger mounting pins(they should slip freely through the trigger-POLISH with 600 paper). The most probable cause though is the overtravel is adjusted too tight, back it off to give you more clearance.

    .270-.338 Norma?

Hock, I have built several 338 Norma's and they are great, also a 270 STW for a friend. His rifle is a sporter weight and he loves velocity, so he pushes 110 TTSX to 3850. Your 338 case should work to give you another 10gr capacity over the STW case so that with the heavy bullets you will be...

    Antelope success chances

We just returned from our hunt in WY. I used a Garmin Oregon 200 with the map card from Len and can't tell you how invaluable it was. GPS was very easy to use and we had no problems telling where we were. As another topic suggested, if using it and being confronted by outfitters or others, have...
