.260 Remington as an Elk Rifle

Sorry, you are correct, I left out the Magnum. It takes at least a .338 Lapua Super Duper Magnum to kill any game animal in North America.

.260 Remington as an Elk Rifle

I've learned one thing from these gun forums on the internet: " it takes at least a .338 Lapua to kill any game animal in North America".

    Velocity question.

That is what I was referring to with my comment on the accuracy of your chrono. There is no way to check the accuracy short of buying a very good quality chrono or LabRadar. It could easily read 150 fps slow or fast, maybe even more. To be absolutely accurate, it must be build to very...

    .260 remington

I don't have any experience with the powders you mentioned, and you did not mention any other powders you've tried. So I will ask the obvious, have your tried H4350 or H4831SC? So far for me, H4831SC is my favorite. I get 2775 with 45.3 grains using 140 AMAX.

    New Scope for .223 Rem

You are correct and that is why I stated that the Op has to decide what his highest priorities are. Personally, I would never ask other people what scope I should buy. I know what my priorities are and would buy a scope based on what I want and not what others think I should want.

    New Scope for .223 Rem

People have been surviving without FFP for decades, I don't think it is worth the money. You are right, if all you do is hunt, the 4-16x will work just fine, but if you also shoot long distance paper, the extra power will be a must for the tightest groups possible. Only you can decide on what...

    New Scope for .223 Rem

Some good choices under $1000: Sightron SIII 6-24x with MOA reticle. Vortex PST 6-24x There is no downside and many upsides to getting a 6-24 over a 4-16x. Buy once cry once, buy twice cry twice.

Need help with long range scope parallax focus

Depends on the quality of your scope. A good quality scope will have pretty much the same POI regardless of power setting, a cheap scope, who knows?
