Yeah, Your probably right, Do it right or don't do it all. I can send my barreled action to hart and have it rebarrelled for around 700. WIth the work being done plus a top quality barrel it's well worth it. They can also install a muzzle break as well.

What is everyone's opionion on the cheapest place I can get a 1-10 twist 30-34 inch bull barrel for my rifle. It's for a .300 Remington Ultra Mag. I don't want to spend 700 dollars from hart.

Well that's good news, I guess I will get the stock to fit the oversize barrel then it will work for both. I would like to have a switch barrel because I'm considering shooting .338 edge out of the gun as well. Thanks for all the good info.

Does anyone know if a Regular Long action stock can be used for the .300 RUM? Also if I change my barrel from .308 to .338 is that all I need to do to shoot .338 edge?.

The action I have is a remington 700 chambered in .300 ultra mag. Will I have to take it to a gunsmith to have the factory barrel removed? I don't want to do it myself and crack the action.
