The Return of the Venetian Blind...

Now THAT is my kind of toughing it out hunting. Like the choir of song dogs who woke me up a few nights ago (keep the window cracked) But to keep from waking the wife I put the suppressor out the window. Spotlight lit up the closest dog at @75 yards quite nicely. She never heard a thing. The...

    Match bullets on coyotes

Calib, Nice line up there. We don't care much for song dogs in the west. The bigger the exit wound the better.

    Scope adjustment help

No scope is infinitely adjustable. They ALL have limitations. Some more than others. If something is "wrong" with the mounting i.e. (base(s), action screw hole alignment, action height difference from front to back where bases attach i.e. requiring bedding the bases, ring height/alignment, etc)...

    Scope adjustment help

I once owned an old Weaver like this. Should say on the dials what the adjustment value is i.e. 1/4 or 1/8 MOA. And the only difference from there is you just have to pay closer attention to them when you make and adjustment. The same as counting clicks but watching the reference point for where...

    Diffrent Reticle Mark 4??

I have a Mk 4 as well. With the TMR reticle. And as stated, I love it for precise aiming due to the very fine hair AND the center where the cross hairs are open. That said, I have been wondering if Leupold would be able to retrofit my scope to the NPR-2 (since I have MOA dials would be nice to...

    Scope power affects rectile

I dont think his scope is changing POI (point of impact) (thats how I read his post anyway) its just that the reticle "blocks out" his POI because the cross hairs or center dot gets bigger at that magnification. One of the trade offs of a front focal plane scope at close distance. And at long...

Bob Costas air gun ban rant during NFL game

Per Costas the great "If Jovan Belcher didnt posess a gun, he and Kasandra Perkins would both be alive today". If I didnt posess a spoon I wouldnt be FAT!!!. These death's are a TRAGEDY! But that gun was no more responsible for those deaths than my wifes fine china is to my cholesteral. May they...

    Is it safe??

Yes, I do it all the time with my Mdl 10 Savage in .308. But watch out for banging those very fine threads on something. You WILL regret it. So I have a thread protector on mine. But COULD just as well use NOTHING on the end. Good shootin!!!

    Stiff chambering

It could be an optical illusion but the difference in the mark location from one bullet to the other looks like it is because one is seated deeper than the other. But at any rate, the scrape/mark sure looks like what rifling would make. Is there a possibility that your loading process is seating...

Coyote from my bedroom @ 1054 yards.

Nice shot!! My wife is a lot like yours. Last week when I spotted a yote in the field out back from my living room. I was gettin the gun and she was grabbin the binos to spot for me. When I let the 125 grains fly she was sayin to herself about what the yote had done turning broadside for me...

scope height w/ 20 moa and 100 yd zero

Thank you everyone for the feedback. I kinda thought I was over thinking it. I'll get the scope as low as I can and sight it in from there. The "standard" 100 yd zero hung me up. Just knowing your dope and holding low (Have mill lines to reference anyway) on those short ones works fine as well...

scope height w/ 20 moa and 100 yd zero

OK, Have a question for those with much more experience (long range) than I. Waiting on my new rifle and getting my "ducks in a row" of parts to have ready to put on it. As I MIGHT have to get shorter rings. So here goes. I'm swapping my Leupold 50mm scope (now on my old Winchester with 2 piece...

Need some advice on gun purchase

I load the .308 And yes, I could get other dies to load anything. Oh, then there is the TON of .308 brass that I have. Can equip a small army with brass. Anyhow, have a 125 grain load made up for the ole Winchester at this time. And from what I have heard of the Savage's accuracy with handloads...
