Can 308 do everything you need a rifle to do under 600 yards?

I made much the same choice as you, more recently. I decided that .308 is my "big gun," and for everything I do, it works wonderfully. Inside 600yd it will absolutely get the job done, and I would not hesitate to tote a .308 anywhere on the continent, after anything that walks it. If I were...

Budget scope rings....... (Flame suit on)

I am pretty certain the Warne Mountain Tech rings are nearer $150 than $50

    .22 Creedmoor Load Data

I have often wondered about some of the speeds posted. I am pushing a 69gr at 3550 in a 22" tube, and I could probably stand to back it off a tenth....but some of the claims I have seen are crazy.

    Inexpensive aics bottom metal ?

Those do look better than the vast majority of the those I have seen. Good job. If they work for you, that's great. I tried them, and while they worked, they just didn't float my boat.

    Inexpensive aics bottom metal ?

I am intrigued, because both of the Magpul units I have used required quite a bit of work to fit into a BDL cut, and even after that work, they don't fit well. Nearly everyone I have seen ends up looking like this....some slightly better but not much. If you're cool with that sort of fitment...

    Inexpensive aics bottom metal ?

I have used the Magpul bottom metal on a couple of build, and it works OK. Depending on the stock, it often has to sit proud of the stock for it to function correctly, and magazines often needs some tweaking to sit in toe correct location for them to feed. True M5 metal is better in every...

    Inexpensive aics bottom metal ?

I quit playing the PTG lotto years ago. They make good stuff....if they have it in stock, if they ship it to you in less than a year, and if its even the thing you ordered.

Help Identify what BM fits in an older Proof Tac II Stock

Seems like older CDI metal was shaped like that, but I haven't seen any in quite a while.

    Inexpensive aics bottom metal ?

If you want AICS mags, just bite the bullet and the stock inletted for an M5 cut, and use the metal of your choice. I currently prefer the Grayboe metal for the money.

    .22 Creedmoor Load Data

Not a lot of substantial difference. The Creedmoor does have a slightly higher case capacity. The real benefit, however, is in case prep. Instead for fireforming up for the AI, all that is required is a single pass to neck down....or you can buy new, ready to load .22 Creedmoor brass from a...

I ended up at 39gr on the nose. I am running Hornady 6mm LRP brass, so take that for what its worth.

Budget scope rings....... (Flame suit on)

Oddly enough, the UTG PRO rings are very nice, and even made in the US..just make sure they are the PRO series. For my "lighter" hunting guns, I have come to really like the Talley LWs. I know they are as brutally strong as other are, but they are simple, light, and seem to be surviving well...
