If you can find some factory Ammo buy it and compare. I would start with a headspace gauge. Make sure die is set up correctly and check sized brass in your chamber before you load.
I agree max terminal and ethical shot with that bullet is 600 yards. The SST is an accurate bullet. Even if you can hit a 16” plate at 1000 yards within moa, bullet might not perform to your liking. If you want another gun do it. But dance with your date. I choose the bullet that delivers...
It’s all about ballistics. And recoil. When you run the numbers with any bullet, 300 WM vs 7mm, you have to go heavy with the 300 wm. I have two guns. One 300 wm shoots a 210 Berger around 2890 FPS and the 7mm shoots a 168 Berger vld around 2950 FPS. They have the very similar drop or click...
7 mm rem mag 24” barrel. 168g Berger vld with my load 2936 FPS I have never cleaned the tips.
10 to 200 yards all pass through broad side 2” size hole exit wound 30 yards dead on their feet.
Now elk. Every bull taken is a broad side shot. Even at 100 yards I have never had a pass through...
I want to move to Finland! This picture is a 7mm rem mag Tikka t3 lite blued barrel $ 413. with a Bell and Carlson stock $250. Hornady sst 162g, h4831 sc.
Yep I have to order mine. The hornady eldx is a different bullet type in 200 g. No experience with the 30 cal. I use the .284 162 g for the 7mm mag for break in. They shoot the same as Berger 168 g that I load. And are lower priced. Look up the hornady AMAX. Some say the perform like the...
Come on and step up to the biguns! 210 g Berger vld 300 wm Tikka t3 lite H4831 SC 76.8g 3.42 coal CCI magnum primer and hornady brass. Around 2900 FPS. As Always Start Low and work your loads up for safety. This is a must! One component changes everything! And tikkas like a lot of different...
I have 2 rifles set up for long range. 1 is a 300 win mag and the other is a 7 mm rem mag. They have the similar ballistics shooting the same bullets but of different weights. The 300 shoots a 210 g Berger vld. The 7mm shoots the 162 g Berger vld. I run validated turrets on each scope...
I think it depends on the personality of the kid. Teach safety first, success 2nd. 4 h has great shooting programs and it brings kids together. My son was 6 with a BB gun then his next was a 410 shotgun. Then with 4 H he started trap and skeet with a 12 gauge at 10. First deer at 11 whith...
Tipton are good. I don’t know if the Tipton attachment jags and brushes are smooth without a lip on them though. Metal dragging over the crown can be detrimental. And the jdewey brush is softer so yes reverse it after it is half of the way out.
so I like a coted rod. Mike Lukas will need to know the specific rod that you have.. also I like the rod being a little larger than the attachment, jag and brush without a lip or road bump. This prevents you from damaging crown when scrubbing. You really need to stop brush before it...
I never have seen that after breaking in more tikka rifles than I want to count. Looks like you have copper buildup. After 58 shots. I would order a Lucas bore guide, a jdewey cooper Illuminati’s rod, jag and nylon brush. Use only deweys brush other brushes are not the same! Your chemicals...
