Hey guys, my 22 Creed is on it's way soon, still undecided about twist rate, probably going a 1-10 because I don't want to blow up the zippy little 53/55 grainers. Projectile prices went through the roof recently however 62gr HORNADY TAP Barrier???? Rounds are available for dirt cheap. Has...
Hey Team.
Any 22 Creedmoor owners out there.
I'm about to choose between a 22-250AI 40* or 22 Creedmoor but I'm using specifically 50-55 gr pills (For cost and ease of obtaining and the type of shooting I do- not doing heavy for caliber).
The 22-250 will have a shorter throat but I need to know...
Yep, I can see the black dot at 50 yards dead center down the bore. It's hitting right about 1 foot at 50 yards.
I'm wondering if there's a burr on the crown, the crown wasn't cut straight, the rifling is shallower or deeper or something on 1 flute. Not sure... never had this issue. Ultimately...
What do you mean? The scope? Doesn't matter if the scope is on or off. The BORE is the problem. It's pointed at a black dot 50 meters away, bullets hitting right 1/2 a meter.
Mate I'm looking down the actual bore of the rifle, the scope should have nothing to do with it. I can see the black dot at 50 meters dead center in the bore, but the bullet travels right almost half a meter. The receiver if it was off a bit, I wonder if that could bias the projectile to one...
Question for the brains-trust folks.
Mate of mine just got a new Ruger 17WSM. Nice looking rifle. Normally I bore-sight it for him and we get going.
I normally have it set perfectly in 3 or 4 shots and off we go.
However, I look down the bore at 100 meters, fire, and I'm not even on a 1x1 meter...
Problem is 75 grain bullets here are 50 cents+ a pop. Buy 1000 its not far off getting yourself a new barrel when you can buy 1000 50/55gr projectiles for 120 bucks... That would pay for a barrel and then some pretty fast I think. I could always chase the throat with some heavier pills later on...
Well I kinda got side tracked on some recent projects and found myself in no-mans land again caliber wise.
I've recently been tasked to do bulk varmint hunting, and the 223 is great for it, but leaves me wanting when I'd like 1 caliber to rule them all...
I'm thinking a 22 Creedmoor to shoot 50...
I built a 1:14 twist 6-06 that shoots 65Gr Vmax at 4300 FPS... why... because it’s down right silly buggers, and that’s a bloody good reason.
A 6.5 Max looks like the cartridge of wanted for some time. And it’s also “fully sick.”
By that I mean, it meets the desired caliber (sectional...
I don’t expect it to stabilise the 80 grainers at all, doesn’t mean they can’t go down the tube! But... since we are pretty much testing and learning everything we can about new wildcats I just happen to have some 80s here I can try.
Design intent is an ultra flat, fast varmint/ dog gun...
The 50 buck Chinese 3-9x40 scope on my 223 has had 3 years, countless drops, ****ing down rain, fallen off the Ute, used by friends, covered in mud and ****. Was sighted in 3 hrs ago.
Still holds zero and a 1 inch group at 175.
Wish I could say the same for vortex...
Settled on a 22 creed 1:12 off an old bsa donor rifle. Going 24” tube sendero profile. I’ll get some chrono numbers with varget (2208) and 2209 from 40 grainers up to 80 grainers. I had some powderstacking in my 6-06 with 2209 at the top end of pressure, hopefully won’t have the same issues.
